I read WW1 (research) presently. I researched the American Civil War for over 12 years, mainly the common soldier, not the big battles. It took me 7 (SEVEN) years to find out what people use in the 1860 for toilet paper.....you'll NEVER guess..!!!! They used TOILET paper...LMAOOO!!! Only it was called "Sanitary Napkins".
WW1 is facinating to me because it was the begining of the new world. Old world methonds were used against new world weapons. Like the Battle of Verdun...which lasted for 10 months!!! Even today they are still finding equipment , weapons, grenades, etc EVERYwhere in that area. The Forts, Douaumont and Voux, the Mort Homme...all fixed positions but in open ground.
It would be nothing but bolt action rifles with fixed MG positions, grenades, gas, incomming artillery that discriminates against NO ONE! Trenches, pieces of houses, carts, wagons, trees, boulders. The open ground kind of conflict.
OK...OK!! NOW you can tell me to shut up and sit down....hehehehe!!
BUT FIRST....go here and see for yourself.....
http://www.geocities.com/jonluk_2000/world_war_I.htmlI'll have updates to this page in the coming days. My next book report is "ATTACKS" by Field Marshal Erwin ROMMEL...when he was a LT/platoon leader in WW1...his personel accounts of the entire war. Most of what is there will surprise the hell outa you..it did me and I'm a retired Gunny (USMC)...LOL!!
