Because I'm anal and like to learn things I went to Ventrilo's website to see what the program can do etc. I figured there's more to it than just join and chat. What I found concerns me to a point. Hopefully for naught as someone can explain how and if and why this is used. My concern comes from this feature as quoted from Ventrilo's website .

"Phantom users for listening in on other channels."

I would like to think that everything said on Ventrillo is in fact between the ppl visible to everyone in the channel. However, there have been events (nothing malicious just someone being playful) that make me question this. I'm not calling anyone out or accusing anyone of anything at all. The event(s) didnt bother me in the least. Just a concern for everyone to think about. If anyone who is an admin wishes to have me clarify the events that make me question I will. Send me a PM or catch me on Vent/Server/xfire whatever. Just not wanting to post something in public w/o facts. Not that the events are a big deal it just opens my eyes to what could cause more drama.

Phantom users would still show up as in the channel with a extra letter before their name ( I thank P but I'm not sure ).
For example I could be in the barb channel as
Druid.

I could also phantom in the COD2 channel where it would show me as still in the channel

So there is no way for a user/admin to be listening to a channel w/o being seen by the users in the channel?

Forget it found my own answer... and the answer is NO you cannot according to the admins on the Ventrilo message board. I dug a little to find out. The way that was worded just concerned me coupled with something else that had happened made me wonder.... I'm still unsure of something but it's probably due to a setting on my end.... anyway thanks for letting me be a little paranoid...
