There is no patch
Tyrant
Well first of all, run in Direct X 7. Or maybe your video card is out of date. It could be a number of things, change the texture settings to low or resolution.
XYZ Factor
You sure you aren't the one lagging?

what graphics card are you using, and how much memory do you have?

there are a number of tweaks that can be done to improve framerates, they are all compiled into one config but im too lazy to find a link so someone else do it. I know some people get a boost of 20fps with no degradation in image quality.
Axel
well....i fixed it a little but single player still lags like crazy
how do i check my pc specs?
and i am the one lagging...... in multiplayer it works fine while im running but when i
start shooting it slows WAYYYY down

my CoD2 graphics options are:

Video Mode: 640x480
Screen Refresh Rate: 60Hz
Aspect Ratio: Auto
Texture Filter: Bilinear
Anti-Aliasing: Off
Rendering Method Preference: Direct X 9 (im about to try it on 7)
Sync Every Frame: Yes
Optimize for SLI: No (what does that mean?)
Shadows: No
Number of Dynamic Lights: Off
Soften Smoke Edges: Off
Texture Settings: (BLANK)

I clicked on texture settings and switched everything to low and am about to try that

also on the front of my HP Pavilion a1130e there is a sticker that says:

Graphics By
ATI
Radeon Xpress 200

btw H8tred im running CoD2 version 1.01 so i think there is a patch...... i guess i dunno

could some explain what those options mean?

THANKS A LOT FOR HELP!
Undertow
Definitley change to DX7.

Btw the only patch out is for duel processors only!
Maj. H8Red
Maybe the dual processor patch is causing conflicts, I dunno? but definately try DX 7

start shooting it slows WAYYYY down

my CoD2 graphics options are:

Video Mode: 640x480
Screen Refresh Rate: 60Hz
Aspect Ratio: Auto
Texture Filter: Bilinear

This filter affects the way 2D and 3D surfaces look as well as how they fade into the distance. Biliner is the simplest but provides the best peformance for older cards.

Anti-Aliasing: Off

Antialiasing makes jagged lines appear smoother. This can really slow down the FPS if you have an older card so keeping it Off is good.

Rendering Method Preference: Direct X 9 (im about to try it on 7)

X7 is a must for older video cards and will provide about a 2x increase in speed. Many think that there is a bug in Direct X9 but actually there is not. It just draws heavily on the newer video card features for items like sun glow, heat haze effect, reflections, etc.

Sync Every Frame: Yes

If this option is enabled, your max FPS cannot exceed your refresh rate and your overall FPS will be reduce. It use to be called VSync in older games. YOU SHOULD SET THIS TO NO. The only case for yes if you are experience image "tearing" and are annoyed by it.

Optimize for SLI: No (what does that mean?)

This is for systems which have TWO Video cards with the NVIDIA SLI configuration. It is possible that you can gain a little improvement in peformance by setting this to Yes even with a single card but it can also cause instability. I recommend you keep it set to No.

Shadows: No

Controls the complex shadows with multiple lighting. This setting is not available if you run in DX7 mode.

Number of Dynamic Lights: Off

This controls the way things like a muzzle flash and explosions light up surrounding areas. This setting is also not available if you run in DX7 mode

Soften Smoke Edges: Off

When this is On the smoke will blend smoothly with surround objects. "world only" will do this only for the ground but not the players. Off is best for your system.

Texture Settings: (BLANK)

This allows more options for Texture Settings. You can go into this area and change all to low if you want to try and boost the FPS a little more. I can provide you detail about what the 4 settings do if you are interested.

yeah definitely get a new card. Running your settings that low may be considered a hack. I just found out the other day that running at 640x480 with low texture settings allows you to see through some walls and most bushes... similar to what happened with low settings in mohaa, just givin ya a heads up.
Axel
ok.........thats weird
im not trying to hack, but i see where ur coming from
