When playing base assault I keep having the game freeze and locks the puter up. This seems to happen whenever i'm in a kick butt position. I'm then not allowed to log back in for some indeterminate time, the last being 17 minutes. I have a pretty highend puter, lots of memory and very good graphics card. I have never had any problems on any other server or with Call of Duty 2. Is there some setting that could be causing this?
Great server and I really enjoy playing with you all.

Hey Bad Dad,
There are any number of computer experts here. Give us some details so we can try to help you out. Are you on a Mac, Linux or Windows? Does this happen on all the maps, or just one or two? When you are locked out of the server, can you connect to other servers?

Hey Hamma you the man!
I'm running win xp P4 2000 nvidia 6600gt video 1024 ram. This has only happened on this server, this game. I can log onto different servers even MOB servers IE: Barbarrosa. I have a pretty fair knowledge of computers going back to the dos days. I use a very clean boot when I play and have no processes running that conflict and like I said..only on this particular game server do I have probs.
Thanks for your help and interest Bad Dad
Sound like your HardDrive going out or your Memory is going bad, When it's frreze what happen? How do you exit out or does it's crash to your desktop? What map or server were you on when this happen?
I'll look through the server logs to see if anything of interest shows up server side.

What kind of fps are you pulling? To view your fps, pull down the console by hitting the tilde key and type /cg_drawfps 1
Also, what is your typical ping on the server? I'm sure you've seen during the hundreds of rounds you've played that high ping players are kicked. This happens most frequently in Ponyri. The latest upgrade to UO 1.51 was supposed to address that issue in Ponyri, but clearly, they failed.
Obviously, you've got a nice box on your desk that should enable you to kick ass all the time, not just some of the time on the Stock server.

i had posted about the same problem a couple weeks ago with no response. ive had my share of problems with rein valley but with the help of the post real deal had wrote i drew my fps and checked my conn and they were fine (usually run about 90 fps) updating the full screen was the answer.all was fixed.
then a little later ,for instance on foy i was in first round and had about 70 kills and 4 deaths and was happy ! the second round loaded and just a few minutes into it i froze. it would freeze up enough that i had to just turn it off. happend about 4 or 5 times that week and the last time it erased all my settings in the game (had to reset keyboard sett,in uo and cod2 wich was weird) but the really weird thing is it erased alot of settings and files on my computer that arent game oriented. ive not had a problem in a few weeks but it sounds familiar.
i usually run with below 60 ping while playing.
Nothing of interest showed up in the game logs but I did see you've been disconnected by punkbuster several times for
[03.01.2006 22:45:23] VIOLATION (IGNORING QUERIES) #9013: Bad Dad (slot #14)
[03.01.2006 22:45:24] Kick Command Issued (Ignoring MD5Tool Queries) for (slot#14) 67.170.39.244:-Bad Dad
[03.01.2006 22:45:24] Lost Connection (slot #14) 67.170.39.244:-4944 Bad Dad
The PB logs show almost a dozen of these over the last few days
Have you been getting messages about getting kicked by Punkbuster?
If not, than it probably coincides with the times your games freezes up.
I dug through every post about the subject an found only one suggested fix.
Currently the time limit on md5 checks is 10 seconds ( default )
I've raised this back up to the older default setting of 60
Another possible issue is after doing a check on your IP, I see you use comcast.
Lots of people on comcast have reported poor connections and disconnects to our servers ( not just ours but any servers located in Chicago ) over the last week.
I think whatever was causing the problem may of been fixed last night.
There is a good chance this was the reason for the PB kicks for "Ignoring MD5Tool Queries" as it's normally associated with a poor connection between the server and client.
If you still experience the same problem over the next few days.
The next thing to do would be check your even log after COD locks up on you.
Start>>Programs>Administrative Tools>>>Event Viewer
Than post back any warning or errors under System or Application.
I looked at my event viewer last night and as Druid suggested it may hold the answer. It appears an AV engine when scanning Call of duty files is locking me up. Does the server use an AV engine when scanning for punkbuster or other scans? I will turn mine off when playing and see if the condition persists. I am fortunate to have a great connection through comcast and have never had any problems there. I will check fps later though it has always been good.
Undead1... you might check your event viewer and see if your getting the same error. If you lock up it could explain the loss of files when rebooting.
Thanks all for the help!!!!
