It's been pretty tight this season. Usually it's one or two players pulling away. After Jagr's hat trick last night, he's got a small buffer. I added players that have 40+ goals to the poll.

sorry pezzy,

i have not watched tooo much hockey since the strike, i think the best hockey game was in the movie strange brew... your sig music (if you know the movie) makes me want to fight. RAHHHH. oh and i like the kid from the caps c a p s caps caps caps (go blackhawks) LOL

pezking
Strange Brew is one of my favorite movies. biggrin.gif

hoser

My sig music is Benny Bennassi. Ovechkin is a god... as my sig says, his chief export is pain. He can skate, hit, deke, shoot, score, pass... etc., he does it all.
flatliner
bob broke your beer!!!!

you ever listen to great white north the album....

pezking
Yeah, we used to have it on vinyl. My dad might still have it... not sure what happened to it.

Wow, that's real helpful! Number one in overtime! Who cares if your record is 29-40. You're only 23 points out of the playoffs!!

Maj. H8Red
Keep making excuses for them even though they suck!!! Are they special becuase they have Nash (average player) & Fedorov (never was that special, just had a great team around him)
pezking
Wish Federov had stayed in Detroit... whether or not he is a great player, he was great as a Redwing.
Geallor
im not making escuses i watch there every single game they can out play every single team in the Us/Can and they hve nxt season is playoffs for them the were injuring him and everytime he got injured it was either 6-9 wks or 10 wks soooooooooooooo i know my NHL team they can beat any team same for blue they hve been playing good lately they injure our good players soooooooooo its kinda hard to win games and they are one of the most that had injuries this season so this is not a escuse its fact i watch there every game in plus we won 3 in a row right now and beat the best team the hottest team so ahahahahaha we blown them away beat San Jose 4-1 yesterday beat redwings 5-4

it doesent matter how bad you play in the beginning its how you finish in the end

I don't think that'll be a problem, unless Thornton picks it up a bit.... dntknw.gif
$aucy
I don't think it really matters what Thornton does the rest of the year, Jagr has been exceptional lately. I really hope he continues this kind of play into the playoffs.
pezking
I might be wrong, but I thought the Richard trophy was for most goals, not most points.

ah yes, here we go... Maurice Richard Trophy

Now Jagr has a great shot to win the Art Ross Trophy as well. smile.gif
Maj. H8Red
ok I stand corrected, he 'may' have a shot at the Art Ross.
Oh You
Jagr will get the Maurice Richard no doubts, and unless a miracle happens, he'll get the Art Ross aswell. Also, if you look at the previous winners of the Art Ross, the Caps really did make Jagr suck, cause he won the Art Ross 4 years in a row, then got traded, sucked out loud for a few years, and now hes back.
pezking
I can half agree with that... his first two seasons w/the Caps were good. Then he went downhill. In an interview this season, he attributes playing in Europe during the lockout for his rejuvenation.

2001-02 WAS (G)31 (A)48 (P)79

2002-03 WAS (G)36 (A)41 (P)77

Here's the LINK if you want to see his previous stats and compare. I would say his average season was hovering around the 30 goal area.
Lord Lipton
i picked jagr cause its the only hockey name i recognize.

haha the Hanson bros. w00t2.gif
pezking
Anyone like the band Hanson Brothers? Basically it's No Means No, but they play hockey songs and dress like the Hanson's from Slapshot while they play like the Ramones. It's awesome but I lost all my cds from yesteryear, anyone have them? I'm desperetely trying to download some but not alot of seeds out there to download from.

never heard of them sad.gif(
Oh You
Can't say i have, but the Slapshot movies, (1 more so than 2) are some of the funniest movies i've ever seen.
Maj. H8Red
I hate to admit it, but I've never seen pt.2 unsure.gif have seen original about 100 times, though
pezking
The one thing I loved in the second was the cinematography in the skating scenes... looked really cool. Beyond that, it pretty much sucked. The Chiefs play the Washington Generals to the hockey equivelant of the Harlem Globetrotters.
Oh You
Yeah, i do love the boobs on the plexi glass though, good quality family entertainment.
pezking
Kovalchuk got his 50th tonight, Jagr had nothing and Alex didn't play.

Jagr - 52
Kovalchuck - 50
Ovechkin - 48

Heatley had 2 which puts him in the race at 47. Cheechoo has been streaking the last few weeks too. Wouldn't be surprised if one of these guys beat out the front runners.
pezking
Cheechoo got 2, Ovechkin got 1, and Heatley snagged another tonight.

Puts us at;

Jagr - 52
Kovulchuck - 51
Cheechoo - 51
Ovechkin - 49
Heatley - 48

3 tied at 44

I'm starting to think Cheechoo could take it easily. Look at SJ's schedule compared to NYR's and ATL's in the final week. Well, NYR's get to play PIT and NYI... could be some easier games. Too bad they don't get to play Nash and the BJ's... easy wins. LOL!
$aucy
Jagr has 53 and he's going to win it. If not Jagr, then CheEChOo
pezking
I mistyped... thanks for picking it up. Jagr does have 53. biggrin.gif
pezking
Cheechoo got a hat trick today - goals 54, 55, 56.

Jagr had nothing today, so Cheech leads 56 - 54.
$aucy
Cheechoo will win it. No way Jagr gets a hat trick against the Senators sad.gif (although that would be nice)

Jagr is great this year but this is also a contract year. He will negotiate a big contract and then have an average year next year. Wait watch and see. Detroit will walk away with it this year.

Geallor

Oh You
Good call on Detroit taking it!

w00t2.gif Go Redwings! w00t2.gif

Uh...wrong. Jagr has atleast 2 more years on his contract after this one.

His love for the game was rekindled during the lockout when he played hockey in Siberia. He returned, bought into Renney's system and has been happy this year...THAT is why he has been so good.
