well guys I have been pulling this apple cart loaded with cement up the hill for what seems like eternity. I have tried easy install map packs, phone calls, file dumps, you name it trying to get this thing off the ground and it just does not seem to be working out. I watched as I worked today to see 3 to 10 players on the server all day and if that keeps up people will finally leave and go to a server that has people on it.

I waited a year for pure to work, always holding out hope that when we could finally make a cheat free enviroment, the world will be good at last. Now it's here and the world is crumbling by the second. Empty servers, all kinds of people with problems, a hundred emails a day and I am just overwhelmed. In addition, maps are becoming more complex and fewer decent ones are coming out, some like Tractorworks teases us and then ends up in the can.

So I have a choice, keep going and take pure off the server seems to be the most realistic answer and indeed 90 percent of the community has no plans to put pure on based on the experiences I and a few others are having. That means I am left to spending copius amounts of time, like my fellow MOB bretheren on our other servers policing the server constantly, forcing screenshots, building a huge ban list and generally taking all the fun out of it for me.

In the end I have been doing some soul searching and I just can't bring myself to doing this. So I can't live with pure off, and the community can't live with pure on, it's that simple. Based on that I have decided to hang up the shingle and begin the process of moving on. Maybe it would be different if we would of had pure form the beginning, maybe not. Either way, all good things come to an end and it is time.

I will be turning off MOB server #2 in it's current state at the end of the payment cycle which is some time at the end of this month. I will also be actively looking at which game I plan on investing my future in and will start turning my attention that way. If anyone desires to take the MOB #2 name over and run a server you will have my blessing and full cooperation.

I am saddened it has come to this but I have thought about it a lot in the past few days and unfortunately I don't see another choice.

Thanks all for the memories, the laughs, and the friendships, I will certainly miss you all and from time to time I will be back to make your life miserable.

Oh and I do not plan on leaving MOB, unless they kick me out. But I will move to the inactive graveyard of old people. Who knows, maybe old man will put me on a milk carton....

It is a sad day but I completely understand. The influx of cheaters over the past few months has been incredible and annoying. Most are obvious and easy to spot but like you said it isn't why any of us are on the servers.

There is no easy solution and I empathize with your situation. People on the servers applaud our efforts to ban the cheaters but rarely realize what happens to ensure that.

Fag, server #1 was completely empty all day today as well, I checked on and off for about 9 hours today. I was shocked but it was a slow day for all the servers. No big. They will be back. Who can resist MOB?

As far as the ease of install=======It's a piece of cake as long as the DL files are there.

I couldn't imagine it being any simpler than what it is now!

If people refuse to delete their mod files and other add-ons in order to play with pure, then who needs them!

Your work in combination with the comrodery of the regular players on Server #2 is what makes it so much fun!

well dang, i used to love playing on mob#2 when it was on mohaa before it went to spearhead. then i got my own server for mohaa and havent had to much time to play spearhead. #2 rocked at the time, that was the only server i would play on cause i love the custom maps you used. i do agree their are tons of cheaters out their ruinning the game. i also try my hardest to keep them out of my server, buts its hard to do 24 hours a day. and CI can only do so much. i have tried a few times when i get a bug up my butt to play some spearhead to get on #2, but it was full most of the time. i have missed the fun times i had playing on it, and hope you the best.

FK I have just read your post and to tell the truth a little shocked. I have had the pleasure of talking to you and I believe you really have a love for this game or else you would have not spent so much time doing what you've been doing.
Servers are not always full but that does not mean they are not used.The last couple weeks you have seen me,Cobra ,Nixon Dio,and once in awhile Big Dick Daddy.The 5 newest members of MOB play Spearhead exclusively and of course yourself.Thats 11 from MOB.
Most of the posts in mob forum come From spearhead players.Yes some are with problems but the players are now starting to help each other.I'm sorry but I believe that your heart is to big and you can't say no to people.You move into another area and the same thing will happen as soon as help is needed you will be there and the circle will start again.
I would ask you give it a little longer change you name while playing and enjoy what you do best in your house (spearhead server #2) killing and having fun.Also you would be kicking the two oldest players in MOHAA out of our nursing home (me and Father-murphy).I would hope to catch you on team speak because I'm not as good typing my thought's.
If you do go I do send all my prayers with you and hope you find happiness in your new adventures

I sure do hate to see you shut down the server. The only server I used to play on and was just beginning to come back to. Just when I was going to come back to server 2 I lost my Dsl connection for a while through a misunderstanding with phone companies and have been offline for about 2 weeks. But besides all of that stuff I understand your situation and the frustration of it all. I too wish it could be a cheat free community but have began to realize it's not gonna happen. But hey, maybe with future games someone will come out with something when the game comes out to keep the cheats from happening. I appreciate all you have done for me and the whole mohaa community.Enjoyed it while it lasted.

Well this is a sad day, FK, and though I hope you change your mind, do what you feel is best. I play on this server exclusively because I like the comraderie you've built here, a truly good community, and I appreciate your unfailing efforts. If you're sick of people bugging you while playing, just say so. I don't think anyone knew how annoying it must have been. I'll miss this server, can't think of anywhere else I'd like to be. But if that's your decision, god bless.

Hey FK I can be lazy at times, I’ve been wanting to do the sv_pure install for awhile now I just haven’t got around to it. I was fixing to do it today and of coarse something came up. I don’t think everybody minds doing these few things , they have just not got around to it. I played the Mob#2 in the last couple of weeks with Casino, and few other guys. I think that a lot of us are fed up with the cheating issues also. I logged on to All Seeing Eye today and seen where Cobra, Nixon, and Old Man were playing. I was really wanting to play with these guys since I play with them on Mob #1. One of the main reasons I don’t play Mob #2 as much is that most of the MOB talent is on Mob#1. I think since you guys have added a few MOB members to the roster that the game play will pickup. I really want to see how good the new MOB members are. Whatever your decision is I just wanted to say thanks for putting in all the work you have for this server. I read your post and said to myself "poor guy" It seemed that you were overwhelmed.

Seriously, I can't even BEGIN to imagine the amount of sweat, blood, tears and toil that it took to make server#2 happen. Hell, it took me a half hour just to make my sig pic!

So it's a small wonder that a period of darkness might overwhelm you, given the less than sterling reception that the community OVERALL has had for sv_pure. Give it time, monsignor. It's still a bit early.

And fer Shiva's sake, take a good long break. Shut down your email, don't give out your phone number, come play incognito. Let the player community help those who can't get on. And let the Server #2 community pick up the tab for awhile...I know that I can and will gladly pay...and there are a host of others.

Get the MOB website guru to make you a paypal portal. I've seen the one for server#1, but haven't contributed because it is YOUR good works that I would wish to help underwrite. PLEASE do this...and let us know what astronomical sum you've been shouldering, because I have no clue as to what server rental costs.

So we play on the, what, TWELVE map packs that you have modified and produced for us for awhile? No sweat...Eagle Eye shows me new positions on each one every time I see him...or, as is usually the case, DON'T see him! LOL

No one out there has the talent to take a map and give it that tactical tweak that you do. PERIOD. But LET IT GO for a month or more, 'mano! Give someone with time and untapped energy the keys...I know that would be hard, but DAMNIT...listen to your elders!

I'll set up the Squad Leader boards, you bring the beer, and I'll pick up the tab for the massage outcall...whaddya say?

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed playing on MOB #2. A friend of mine about a month or so ago told me about MOHAA and the Spearhead expansion pack. He also told me about the MOB Clan and your server. You have selflessly provided a cheat free environment that would otherwise make the game not enjoyable and fun to play. I have come to enjoy the group of regulars that I see on the server and getting my daily lesson in humility.

I can also see how you could get frustrated with people constantly trying to find new ways to circumvent the anti-cheat measures you have in place. But please do not let a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us. If it is a matter of administrative duties, perhaps let some other people help you in moderating the site and maintaining its integrity.

The monthly cost of running the server has to also play a factor in your frustration. You start something out of love for the game, wanting to give back to the community. But then you end up playing less and baby-sitting more.

Why don't you give us the option of donating to the server? If the average cost is 12 dollars per user, per month. Then perhaps let people put money where their mouth is and support it.

I don't make a lot of money, but I would be willing to pay what ever I can afford to see you keep the server up and running.

Another thing you have to consider fk you run custom maps and this is the most popular custom maps on spearhead. so a little calcul custom maps + sv_pure running on the first month it was released = a big success for the moment. but on another way its your decision and you have make such good work in the last 9 months. I remember the days we were playing on mob server one but with custom maps!

I have really enjoyed your server even though I usually get my ass hand to me by the MOB boys. I like many other will only play on your server becuase it is cheat free and becuase it has great maps.

If it's not, I can honestly say I'm surprised you lasted this long.
Most of MOB is in it for the fun but partly for the chest thumping after a good score.
You on the other hand, seemed to be more about fun and the pure love of the game. After all the time and effort you put into #1, not to mention the money. I can see how frustrating things could get for you.
I just hope you are pleasantly surprised by what a loyal following you have on your server. It completely shadows the group of regulars of any other server I've ever been on.

ya really mob#2 has a huge following id say there is aleast 15 regulars and 5 open slots for whom ever every time I go to log on at normal hours 9-5 the server is full and I know at least 3/4 of the names

Well, I am completely and utterly bummed. I can understand FK's feelings in that the numbers have been low since pure, and he might be getting bored, wanting a new fix. I do sympathize truly.

However, this still sux long and hard. I can say with all surety that MOB #2 is the best MOHAA server out there bar none. It's fast-paced gameplay and dedication to mod-maps has made it one of the most, if not the most, popular servers out there. True, since pure the #'s have dwindled, but they seem to be back on the rise. I'm always seeing guys trying to connect, but can't cause they don't know how yet nor do they know how to get to the MOB site to learn. After such a big overhaul, it's only natural that it will take time to get the server back to what it was.

For the past year, #2 has been the only server I've played MOHAA on under various names, and it would sadden me greatly to see it go. I understand that it's your money and your life FK, and you gotta do what you gotta do. I want to thank you for the great games you have given me. I have enjoyed it immensely.

With that said tho, I'll add, DO NOT MAKE ME COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND THROW A FLAMIN' BAG O' POOP ON YOUR DOOR IF YOU SHUT US DOWN!!! I have no life and plenty of free time, and I'll do it too.

I'm not going to beg (pleaseeeeeee, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee don't), nor will I try to bribe you (anal sex with Smokey). I'm just going to try and appeal to your higher sense of charity (Vegas trip with lesbians), and hope that you change your mind (don't make me come to your house).

I hope FK don't close this server.....after I found it serveral months ago it's the only one I can play on and not get called a 'camper'. Sure, the numbers have dropped but at times they are full too. Look at the other servers (I don't use play gate) and yu can see there are PLENTY of empty servers out there. But!!!!!!!!! #2 ALWAYS has at least a few players and in the evening there are plenty of em. Just try'n to keep your head above water FK.

Buck up little camper, you see the support your getting in light of the support you've given. Would really be a shame to see such a good thing go away. I feel like I just lost a 5'7, blonde haired, blue eyed, big tittied nimpho with a thick ass and a nice set of dsl's (not affiliated with bellsouth). Ok to all who have posted here I have just 2 things to say.

First thanks very much for all the kind words and support it greatly helped emotionally.

Second, APRIL FOOLS. I have no intention of leaving this great bunch of guys hanging. I know you are all now ready to kill me but hey, look at it this way. Here is my bit of revenge for all the DAMN WORK you guys put me through...


On a serious note I know most of you believed it because what I was saying is somewhat true so if you guys want to help there is some things you can do for me.

First and foremost GET THE WORD OUT. Post on other forums whatever but help me get new players in here. It is going to now be much harder to get new blood with pure on since people can't just join the server to test it out.

Second, give me constant feedback on the maps. The worst thing is people leaving the server because that hate the maps that are on so let me know what people like and dislike. I now have 29 maps in the 12 packs believe it or not. Thats a lot of maps if you add the stock ones to it and certainly give us enough for 2 rotations but I am still unsure which ones people really dislike.

Third, I will accept money at my paypal account which is jsemberger@sc.rr.com. Many of you already send me some and any help is greatly appreciated. That said this was NOT a ploy to get money and this is not about money for me. If you want to donate fine but DO NOT feel obligated to do this.
