Barb has suddenly lost all interest. Since I'm not a big Tuchola fan, I wonder if there is a way to reinvigorate Barb? Ideas like a different weapons pak for example. Different gun config's. Changing the time limits. Etc. Something that might garner some interest again, set it apart from other maps.

Not sure how easy this is to do. But I played other servers where you start with a choice of 6 or seven configurations where you start with two guns, and they are all different, a combo of russian, brit, american and german. Everyone starts with full gernades and a stachel and stuff. Might be interesting. Could resolve games faster.

I hope people take this suggestion seriously. Smolensk I think dies a premature death because of one misplaced pak. If we want to save Barb, I think we need to act fast. This ideas might not work to regenerate interest, but I think we have nothing to lose. How about being able to choose to start with a MG32 and a flamethrower!?! Or a sniper AND an FG? There's a million possible combos really. Pick some good ones, it might spice things up.

I've pretty much stopped playing Barb. Tuchola is my new map of choice. But takes 20 tries to get in, damn server disconnect.

I think map rotation is the best answer... in that Smolensk thread a while back I mentioned that FJ ? server [same one with 2 weapon start MoD?] where they rotated it Smolensk and Barby [CTF] -and lately another one I think... its still pouplar

Those were wildly configured weapons though where they turned up the accuracy. Gun battles were always over almost instantly! I'd love to play with the same combo of weapons they used but with normal weapons accuracy and configs. Can you play CTF with tanks? That'd be wild. I'd be all for a swing between CTF and BA with a modded weapons pack. I mean, Barb is definately my favorite map all-time, I was happy the way it was, but it may be dying. And I tried to go into Tuch last night and it was full, 36 of 36. My password wouldn't even let me in! It too full, and Barb too empty. That sucked.

Plus now I play TF because most of MOB plays that map. It's good to play with your buddies.

I'm not sure what to do here. But maybe it's time for a poll on an extra map on the server. Rotation between Barb and for example Ponyri? I think that maps are more important than weapons when people select where to play.

most of the servers die down in the summer too. stock has been dead too.

I AGREE, i used to play barb every morning around 9 am .tf is the only one with peeps now.i really havent had much time to play in the am because im up and out latley .i would imagine dg is right and when summers over it will be full again-unless anther game comes out.

I miss Smolensk and revel in a good game of Barb also. I remember when it was always seemingly full. TF is a good map also and being newer naturally attracts players. A rotation of maps is worthy of consideration along with alternatives in weapons if possible to propel a more tactical approach in the playing of the maps.

I HAVE TO SAY I LOOOOVED SMOLENSK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then all a sudden noone liked it because the 1 pak gun in germ spawn.wasnt the pak gun fixed? maybe smolensk and barb rotate?

Having watched server populations for a while. The key for a healthy server is to have a crew of 3-5 regular players who logon early in the day. That jump-starts the server population for the day and draws in new players. Looking at the population for Barb today shows that the regular crew didn't login until after 5pm.

Back when Tuchola was getting started, I logged in at 9am everyday in spec mode in order to draw players in (for about 2 weeks I did that).

As for how to re-invigorate Barb... light version of AWE (i.e. just tripwires and body searches), see whether BAS alternated with CTF and/or CNQ draws players or alienates them, maybe rotate with a patched version of Smolensk.

Smolensk is updated, finally to 1.1. NO pak. Other fixes. PM sent to Bob.

Great Slyk... once again> let's hopefully get Smolensk rotating with Barby imho; the few Barby regulars are good but seeing a new bunch of interested folks curious about such a rotation is always healthy. Look at how Tuchola drew in a whole shipload of new regular fans > of course its a superb map, and what must've been another draw-in factor is the 'something new to do'.

Throw Ardennes_1944 into the mix and I'd wouldn't be unhappy.

Smolensk sounds good to me. I al;ways enjoyed that map. It's not as good as Tuchola, but it's good none the less.

I always try to join barb first, if there are enough people in the server to make it fun and Tuchola second. The only problem I have with barb though is the server crashes all the time where as the other servers very rarely. I also like Smolensk and was surprised it didn't get the play it deserved. I would like to see a Barb, Tuchola, smolensk rotation also, but no weapon changes or mods. Just my 2 cents.

Barb has never crashed when I play.
