Pissed france won, but GOOOOOOOOOO ITALIA!
Victory was a great movie. Pele, Beckenbauer, etc. Stallone sucked in that movie... well, his athleticism was cool. His acting was subpar, but then again it WAS Stallone.

I missed the headbutt =( i was out walking my uncles new dog and came back for the very end and then penalty kicks. Also, i kept hearing reference to a soccer scandal, something of that sort. Would someone be so kind as to elaborate?
Zidane Headbutt VideoI loved it... would've been better if France had come out winners in the PKs. Oh well.

I believe flat is commenting on how you seem close minded about soccer. Both games are fun for me, even more fun if i can play it with friends.
I've played both sports but football is more fun either in leagues or playing with friends, its not that i hate playing soccer its more that i hate watching for an hour to see no one score.
Yea, watching soccer is quite dull to me, but i love playing it. About 2 years ago my friend and i would always go over to our old elementary school and play soccer with the kids there...those were the days. Now he does crew and i normally work (this is of course during school days)

Oh c'mon I've seen American football here in the UK loads of times. I remember back in the early 80's when the Chicago Bears (with 'The Fridge') & the Miami Dolphins were all the rage, but thats all died away with just a small folllowing left - Why you might ask?......because compared to Rugby Union/League or 7's its very very DULL
football is a much more complex game than rugby and soccer and it is far more intense, in football without everyone working at 100% a play wont work where as in soccer and rugby u can rely on one star, not to say rugby isnt a sweet sport

What utter nonscence to say that in rugby & soccer you only need rely on 1 star!
Thats total crap, Isuggest you sit and watch more closely.
Because I choose not to watch American Football doesn't mean I can't see any skill in the game. I just happen to find it extremely boring, a bit like Formula 1.
Look its not rocket science, all they have to do is get the ball from one end to the other. They dress up like they're going into battle and stop play every few minutes, why incase they get hurt or something? Why do they have to make such a big thing of it?
I'm not trying to alienate my American cousins but as I said earlier I just think its very very DULL.
Its just my opinion thats all
HarryCaray

In order to get to the other side of the field you have to get past 11 guys. The field is only 53 yards wide, not alot of room. The reason you stop every few minutes is to formulate a strategy and a plan to get past all 11 guys who try to stop you. Rugby is fun, but you can say it's DULL too. All you to is try to get to one end of the field as well.
thank you harry, and the fact that the 11 guys dont only want to stop u they want do take ur head off on every play u need a damn good stratagy to get by them
Basically, what I'm reading here is that there are a lot of people that were brought up watching a specific sport and are not completely knowledgable on the others in question on this thread. I get it already... those of you that grew up playing US football think it's the best thing since sliced bread. I like playing/watching football as well. When I was young, I looked to my roots and got involved with soccer. My family is from all over Europe(Wales, England, Germany, Netherlands) so we were into soccer. This didn't make me hate football and after learning the rules and history I played in high school. Something you football guys might want to know is soccer is 50 times rougher and tougher than football. I spent most of my years playing hockey and I'd have to say soccer is tougher than hockey too. Minimal pads, running the whole time, too many collisions, etc. All and all, I think you guys need to watch the game and try to embrace it before you come into the thread and knock it down. There are several knocks that could be said about US football but I don't see too many people getting into that. Please try to respect other people's passions instead of pissing on them. I'm sure you wouldn't want the tables to be turned.

Fundamentally I totally agree with what you say, but don't be so pompous about it!
What's the harm in a bit of a wind-up and some light hearted banter?....lets not get too serious here eh?:

both very well put, but i did not find pez's post to be pompous.
there are only two people on a football field who have to beat 11. the running back and the quarterback. Randy moss will only have to beat 2 at most on a good rout. I am not going to directly compare sports anymore, because if you are not intelligent enough to find atheticism in any sport, you are not intelligent enough about sports. American football is one of my favorite and most looked forward to times of the year, like most americans, i own more ncaa & nfl clothing than I need. I respect the game even at a youth level, but... there are some changes that younger people might not see. The game is changing. My father was all state on BOTH sides of the ball. Ironman football is gone. Unthought of unless you are in highschool. 30 years ago, clothesline tackles were allowed as well as holding onto eachothers belts on a kickoff to form a better wedge. No more spearing, and the rules for holding are getting more strict. The quarterback is more protected now than ever. Now no horse collar tackles. More changes will happen in the next decade. It is a difficult game no doubt. But, what you see on tv is entertainment, dont forget that. when you get old enough you will inderstand. Ha ha harry you whippersnapper!!!! talk to me when you can friggin vote!
Flat out, but not for long...

Yes flat, I know all this. Wide Recievers actually had to fight with the corner back to get the ball. Penalties were scarce back then. I've watched so many NFL Films shows so I know. Like when Theismann broke his leg after being clobbered by LT. I know the game has changed alot producing the superstar atheletes who do the same us "kids" as you call us flat can do. Back then it was more diffulcult and took more skill to play. But that doesn't change the love for the game.
