Hi Everyone,
Just started to get back into playing after sometime away and decided to give TF a try.
From what I've seen so far it look very impressive. Well done Scarpyard Bob!

The trouble is I keep getting error messages that look like this:
http://www.tarkus.f2s.com/Screenshots/TFError.jpg
its driving me mad
I'm running a PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25ghz Processor with 1.25GB Ram.
I've upgraded the graphics card to an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb. From an 80GB HD theres 40gb of space still available.
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
I cant think of anything else that might be usefull - give me a shout if you need any other info.

Open ~/Library/Application Support/CoD United Offensive/uo folder and then open the file uoconfig_mp.cfg using TextEdit. Search for the line that begins "seta com_hunkmegs" make sure that it reads "seta com_hunkmegs "512"
Next, in the same directory, open the file hunkusage.dat using TextEdit. Search for any lines that start "maps/mp/mp_uo_tucholaforest" and delete those lines.
Now, restart UO and see if you can cavort in the forest error-free.

I was getting the same errors on my DP Mac and all I had to do was the "Hunk Megs" trick...I hardly ever crash now.
Getting killed in the game? That's another matter...
Thanks for the advice everyone.
I'll try and have ago in the next few days - I'll keep you posted!
Hey thanks everyone that did the trick nicely
I played TF last night and didn't crash once!
However I did notice that in all the Russian Tanks, the machine gun fire wouldn't follow in the direction I was pointing!

I didn't get a chance to jump in a German tank, but I think it would probably have behaved the same.
Has anyone else encountered this problem or is it me?

Two of the T34's have hull mounted machine guns that don't change Point of Aim with the turret. Could you have been in the lighter colored T34's, or did you also try the BT7's and the KV1's?

Those misdirected mgs are a big reason I cooled on both the Forest and Barb. I can't stand firing an MG and having to guess where your fire is going based only on tracer fire. I can't stand those damn tanks. An fps has a crosshair for a reason, why on earth would someone develop a weapon that doesn't align with the onscreen crosshair???
My other big complaint is the dramatically different splash radius from shells fired from AHz tanks. They clearly were designed as infantry-friendly tanks. A KV-1 shell should have the exact splash radius as a shell fired from the Elefant, but with AHz you get the equivalent of an M-80 firecracker. So, the KV-1 is big and slow and about as lethal as my H&K 9mm.

I think that the KV1 had a standard velocity 76.2 mm gun, while the Elephant had a high-velocity 88.
As with everything else, I guess it depends on personal preference. I like the stock T34's for what they are. I also like the mod t34/85 that has the turret coax MG.

First of all for the T34, just press Spacebar and the tank follows the turret and the MG will follow too. Plus the stock heavy tanks are BS once you get in one you can stay in it the whole game, it doesn't make the game fun. The Barb and TF tanks are more evenly matched and make a FUN gunfight not one hit your dead.

Harry, please come into the stock maps some night and show us how you can stay in a stock tank all game. Resurrection would love to learn that tactic!! You pick the map.

You can do it any map with a heavy.

As I said, come and back up that claim. You will learn a painful lesson. You can't do it. Period.

People do it all the time. I play stocks only when TF or Barb is empty and others are full or im bored of them. Whenever I play there is always someone who sits in a heavy (or 88) for the whole game. At the beginning of the game everyone rushes for the heavy because they know it will keep them alive. You don't even have to hit people, you can hit the wall 50 feet from them and get a kill. Also I lag horribly on stocks so it'd be hard to back it up

Hamma I was looking at the stock stats and saw for the elefant you 393 kills and 16 deaths. The 2nd best elefant guy has 143 kills to 11 deaths. Out of all the game you die that little means you can basically stay in it whole game.
For the Russian heavy CC has 374 kills and 9 deaths. Thats crazy, litteraly lol. Zoti has 1 death and is ranked 9th.
I just think the heavies are too powerful. Even another heavy gets killed in one shot. TF and Barb the tanks are more matched.

You are misinterpreting the stats.
The kills vs death figure is for how many kills a person makes with the elefant vs how many times they are killed by the same type of tank. That does not equate to how many times we die in the Elefant or the Russian heavy. Both tanks are extremely susceptible to attack by infantry as they can barely move. The key to success in those tanks is the ability to know the battlefield and know where you may be out flanked, and of course, to be surrounded by support troops.
I first started getting in a heavy, not because of its heavy hull, but because it can drop a base in a minute and nine seconds faster than a conventional tank. It takes 35 shots in a conventional tank to drop a base whereas a heavy can do it with 10 shots. Seemed pretty obvious to me what was the better choice in a base assault map.
I've always been puzzled by people who complain that heavies "take the fun" out of base assault. Perhaps they are playing the wrong game. "Tag" might be a better option for those types.

Lol I just realized the stats thing. 10 shots huh. Now please tell me that takes alot of skill. 35 shots means that you have to work to get the base down, putting your skills of staying alive and defending against enemies to the test.

Hi Miked,
Not too sure on that
I'll have to go back and try them all and get back to you later.

Tried things in TF tonight.
I didn't try all the tanks tonight but the T34-76's definately fire from the hull.
I guess that solves the problem - thanks everyone
i agree with harry, I sometimes play on a ba server with no tanks... extreme fun. you want team play nothing like it. packs of ppl not single rambos!

For Barb and TF sometimes you have to be rambo. Most of your team are noobs and like shooting trees with tanks. I also like TDM with tanks.
