Still happening to me too. In fact, I know have a number of other problems with my computer, which all started happening when this update came out. I think the multiple crashes and resets of the computer have done their damage to my 5 yr old video card, it seems to be the main culprit now. Well, the nice thing is the wife is pissed about not being able to check her email and such that I have convinced her we need a new computer. At least I'll get that out of this nightmare, hopefully that will stop this shit. I'm still working with Punkbuster to figure out what happened with my old system, maybe what they learn will help someone else. I'll probably be MIA for the next week or so.

What is the error message when you are kicked?

Keep in mind that PB released yet another update since the one last week. You may have to go through everything again. I still think that a lot of the problem can be traced to a corruption of your hunkusage.dat file. Toss it in the trash, manually download the new PB client and reboot. Hopefully that will help.

Not sure the error message, in the process of being kicked my whole computer crashes and I have to reboot the system.
Hamma, I've tried all that including the hunkusage file advice and the new version released Monday. Didn't work.

Is this just affecting Macs? Or is it both? I have been playing all over the place and all systems here are a go. Just curious........

Both.
Wino, that sounds pretty serious. Cross had good luck working with the PB folks. Hopefully they can resolve the problem for you .. but, with the wife in line, getting a new rip-snorting computer sounds like a better option!!
SAME THING FOR ME TOO WHINO! having problems with my hard drive ,sometimes wont even reboot.today my comp wouldn't even log onto explorer.this has happened a few times since the update.after it reboots me, it asks do you want to report this problem and if you click cancel it wont go away so i say yes(of course) and it brings me to ms web site saying how to correct problems with my c drive because of a problem .i would've taken a screenie of the messages but it wouldn't let me,lol.Ive followed the directions (it does it for you automatically)and it fixes the problem .the next day i try to log on it'll happen again.
had Ernesto raining here all day and FINALLY had an opportunity to game all day .took about 2 hours to be able to play the first map.i was so burnt i played 4 rounds and took a nap.
the funny thing is right when i had the most problems,i turned around and looked at my wife an she says"DONT LOOK AT ME ,I HAVEN'T BEEN ON THE COMP IN DAYS!" funny!

I also thought my wife might be up to some sabotage, but she uses the computer too so that didn't last long

Well, that's a big relief, Undead! Now we just need to get Wino back on track.
From what I've been able to figure out, the problem arises during download of a new PB version. The hunksusage file relates directly with the amount of video memory allocated during gameplay. We've all seen the psychedelic colors that some Mac users get on Foy when their hunkusage.dat file retains the wrong setting for that specific map. That has been the most visible evidence of this problem. I'm not sure how this file gets corrupted, and I'm sure some others on these forums could help with this, but clearly it is bad news when a new PB version comes out and that data file doesn't allocate the proper memory for a given map.
I suspect the system-wide problems you guys have been having are a direct result of bad code in PB which may lead to a heap allocation problem. This is what some viruses/hackers use to corrupt your OS to take control of your computer - a binary code injection attack. Obviously, an attack isn't happening here with PB, but a buffer overflow that isn't handled properly by the OS can be quite damaging as Wino has learned.
The Mac security model is obviously stronger than Windows, and in this case, the Mac ends up without the upgrade and the PC ends up with the upgrade installed, but corrupted. So, this means that Wino's operating system gets trashed and some of us Mac users simply have to manually download and re-install to correct the problem.

Okay so how do we fix the problem again? Dump the hunkusage file? Yes i am on a mac as well.

Yes, toss the hunkusage.dat file in the trash and then go to
http://www.evenbalance.com and download the latest 2 COD UO clients for Mac OS. Be sure to place these in your Call of Duty/pb/htm folder.

Hey Fellas,
Thanks for the info Hamma. It defintely screwed my computer up. I seem to have it under control now but I'm not going to try and play COD until my new system gets here. As long as I don't try to run PB I don't have any problems except for lost resolution from my video card. My video card was definitely damaged through this, and possibly my hard drive, but I'm not 100% sure about that yet. I'm gonna wipe the HD on this computer once I get setup on the new one then get this computer set up for the kids. Probably be back in action by next weekend.
