Bargod
So, as most of you may know, I recently had my script take 3rd place at the Eerie Horror Film Festival. My prize was 2 all access passes. So, since writing and making movies is what I want to do, it's clear that I need to go because of all the industry people that will be there. Of course, this can't be such an easy decision. It happens to fall on the same weekend as the Texas/Oklahoma football game. Now, while I don't give a crap about either of these teams, since they play in Dallas it is the single biggest weekend I have all year for money. So, if I go to the festival, not only will it cost me money for airfare (maybe not, working on that), accomodations, car rental, food and alcohol, but it will also cost me around $800 for missing Friday and Saturday nite. Plus, they are not likely to let the Bargod take a vactation the busiest weekend of the year, so I will most likely be quitting the job to go. I had told my wife and work that I would work because I need the cash. However my wife says screw it. Why keep the job you hate and miss an opportunity to meet somebody that can get your movie made.
It's just hard to quit a job you've had for 11 years, especially the one that you get the family's insurance through.

Wow. That's a pickle, ain't it. What a great wife you got! I bet she's good lookin' to boot! Bartenders always get the hot chicks.
I used to DJ in dance clubs so I know.

11 years of service and they wont cut you any slack!
Why dont u remind them about the "flare" contest they wanted you to do. They owe U!

Hey Bar,

Follow your dream. Opportunities like this don't come knocking on your door everyday, so when they do...you have to jump on the ban wagon. If you don't the rest of your life will be wondering..."what if", instead of quitting just call in sick. I can give you a list of excuses that people have used at my work. If you want them just PM me.

After 14 yrs...the only way I would quit is if I won the lottery...then I might even stay. (Cause I still enjoy my job)

I'm going to start a donation fund for you......"Please send money to Bargod, future writer/producer. Hey, if worst comes to worst, maybe Tom Cruise will hire you....I hear he's starting his own company and I would highly recommend you.

When the wife says YES...just do it. Dave always does:)smile.gif Good luck we're behind you 100%!!!

My big game was when Ohio State whooped on Texas. LOL!

My wife came home with some interesting news. They want her to go "full time" at her job. Basically, she had Mondays off and was full time the rest of the week. Anyway, she is going to be getting a large raise and will be bonusing. They have also told her that she can do it month to month if she likes. So, after this week I believe I will be taking a "leave of absence". I don't think they can really deny those, right? Plus, I can keep my benefits for a bit before they start sending me bills. This way I'll be able to go, possibly look for another job, and also see if this works for my wife.
So, thinks aren't looking so bad after all.
