Druid has stepped down from his role as the backbone of our clan. I thought it might be worthwhile to reflect a bit on what he has meant to this clan. He has put in an ungodly amount of work at making MOB what it is today. His sole motivation has seemingly been to enable others to have fun.
Last night offered just the tiniest of glimpses into the kind of selfish acts Druid has performed over the years. It was the second night in which I had struggled to join my fellow clan members as they played on a series of new custom maps. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to listen to the laughter and frivolity as everyone else played together. We even had a number of our COD2 regulars join up simply because everyone was having so much fun.
I don't know if my problem was due to a firewall, or a scripting error on the server, but the bottom line was I couldn't download any of the custom maps and therefore, couldn't join. Druid heard me complaining as I struggled to solve the problem. He immediately took himself out of the game and ftp'd the maps and related files to a place where I could download and install them manually. This was no small task as many of the files were quite large.
Once he had them uploaded, it was only a short time before I was able to join and be killed with reckless abandon! This was one of those moments that make you realize it is really, really cool to belong to a group that enjoys having fun, but more importantly, it made me really appreciate the kinds of things that Druid has done for us over the years.
Thank you, Druid. This place just wouldn't be the same without you around.
