I think the one positive out of this whole thing is that when the pres election starts at the end of next year, the Dems won't be able to just run on the ticket of "I'm against everything Bush has done" anymore. They'll have an opportunity to do something in the next year and a half to make things better, which ofcourse I hope they do. I'm not entirely pro-Bush here... just sick of everyone bickering and not doing anything about it. I've just seen a lot of Dems lately bitch about Bush while not doing a damn thing to fix anything. Plus, all the Dems in VA ran on the ticket saying the Republicans that are running are in Bush's back pocket, the incumbent voted for salary raise, etc. Well, ofcourse they voted for salary raise... you will too Dem.

This whole country is going to shit. It's not going to end one day out of the blue... It's been happening for a very long time. We've lost our balls to these left wind liberals who as you said pez are more willing to give our own fucking money and freedoms to someone who isn't even american-and will not be do to jumping the fence. Diluted, is the only word I can think of that this country has become. We used to be just a few parts of this and we were volatile, now with a few parts of this, and a few parts of that. We have diluted our country down to where it's unstable.

Some people look at it the way you guys do. I look at it a little differently. Lets open it up here, your talking about Mexicans here. Mexicans here are mostly doing the work that most americans would not want to do first of all, and second, would not do because of the low pay involved. I dont want to hear the crap of them taking American's jobs from us anymore cause thats plain stupid. Im sure that there is some common ground we(USA) can come to with health packages for these people. Something along the lines of Free Medical and Dental offices with the Doctors and Dentists straight out of or while still in school to treat them. I would rather be working with these people and start taking taxes out of their pay like the rest of us instead of having all these companies paying them under the table. Let them contribute to the USA just as we all have. This will only make the USA stronger, not weaken us. My only issue is, and its not only with the Mexicans that want citizenship, its will every other low income family as well. I really want more strict follow up on all these damn people that are sucking off the government for money. I see it all around. I know some people that are collecting public aid and are bartenders at clubs downtown pulling in $1000 a week in tips alone. They are making a killing. Why this is allowed just amazes me.

Scam artists always find a weasly way- it never ends... governments can push hard to combat them, but unless we have a north korean government, realistically I don't think it can be wiped out. To me, these leeches lack the concept that being honest is what keeps this society from descending into free-for-all chaos. As much as straight-up tax-payers would like to literally beat it into these bozos heads that it's the average tax-payer actually being leeched off, they'll never comprehend. What's that line from Starship Troopers.... 'what's the difference between being a civilian and a citizen...?'. Leeches don't have a clue.

It's a fact that these wonderful "temporary" programs do not work. Why we continue to pursue this is beyond me. That's why I am against a national health plan. I don't want the gov't taking my money and telling me how I can spend it. Which is exactly what it would be. The more they control the more they screw up. Government and efficiency do not go together..... that's why I usually don't vote democrat is they seem to be pro entitlements and pro letting anyone have them. I like my money in my pocket.....

It seems to me that the Dems are more efficient though. Reps usually waste money and are corrupt. If we did have some sort of national health plan, i think the prices of things these damn doctors are getting would be cut down. Its rediculous to have to pay usd12.00 for an aspirin. The healthcare system right now is horrible. We are letting these doctors and hospitals rip us off and not even saying thanks. What is the feeling you get if you go to a hospital? I mean, I can pay to go to Hawaii and have servants at the snap of my fingers for the prices you pay for a week in a hospital. My Gram was in the hospital last week and basically because she was sick. Do you want to know what the hospital bill was?? Over usd15,000.00. That is just unacceptable. If she did not have health coverage, she would no way be able to pay that. Why should charges like that be allowed just because the health insurance is covering it??? We need a major overhaul with healthcare.

One striking example of how the health plan works here in Canada. Yes, it gets near chaotic for folks waiting for surgeries -however- a few years back I had a friend in his 50s go in for a check-up due to excessive fatigue. Doctor says bluntly to my friend,-paraphrasing- 'you WILL get yourself into a hospital now and prepare for heart surgery'. X-rays showed friend was on practically borrowed time. Within 4 days the heart sugery was performed, successfully and just in time;the cost to my friend- he now pays only for regular heart medication. Life goes on for him normally otherwise- no worrying about paying for such a major procedure. It's not a 'free' system... most of us up here chip in through taxes... but when you need to use the system, you realise that it's a great benefit.

being in the bar bizz ,i can honestly tell you that you wont get far before someone wonders why you dont work and jacking your bank acount with 300 to 700 a day and collecting benefits,lol! my current job was under the table but with real estate booming i was definetly not raising eye brows downtown! line cooks,busboys and dishwashers are the jobs the irs doesnt look at,thats why theyre there! lately though ive heard of 6 rest who have been busted and theyre paying huuge fines per illegal.here in florida they actually go and lock down grocery stores in certain times and id every person,so they aint kidding around any more!

as for the mexicans- is any one here from california? because i lived there for a while and i ,having 14 years in the rest and bar bizz couldnt get a job,most had thousands of aplications and lets just say they werent irish .i used to watch 100s of illegals running down the railroad tracks all night long in san clemente.



i have a very good friend who is an absolutley gorgeous columbian who came to fl 10 years ago.she learned to speak the language and is a realtor who has sold 8 million in properties a year ,6 years in a row and paid taxes on all of it! this is not including in the last 3 years shes bought 5 properties as well. she had followed the correct steps in trying to get her green card 10 years ago and is still waiting.now it seems her drivers license is going to expire and her temp green card as well, so she will have to leave until she can get it.this pisses me off because you had someone who could have easily married or taken the easy path but she wanted to do it right and chose the road less traveled and shes screwed because of it.but ilegals from other countries get pregnant and get on welfare and get medicade and were not going to send them back because of the kids. theres always that guy who says "well they do jobs no one wants to do" tell that to the vietnam vets who are on the side of the highway and no one will hire them.ive hired these guys to help with planting trees and what not and if you talked to them you would understand!

My father is one of those guys. I talk to him about his opinions and thoughts all the time. He is actually without a job because of corporate downsizing also. But he has received benefits from the government due to disabilities he has from vietnam. The problem needs to be addressed from where its leaking from. You cant clean up a leaky pipe in the basement by cleaning up the water on the floor. You need to fix the leaks first before you try to clean up the floor right? The problem is many companies in the USA would be forced to close if you take away all of the illegals that are willing to take the pay they take to perform the jobs they do. You would have a complete financial downfall if every illegal was taken out of the country. It would be a trinkle effect. First you would have every restaurant close. Then the banks that made money from those restaurants accounts close. People that had high positions at the banks would lose their jobs. Its a huge effect that they have on our economy. Yes, there are those that are illegal and are making a good living here. But you just cant take every illegal out of the country, nor can you stop all businesses from hiring them. They are whats keeping most businesses alive. Yes, this is unfortunate to some americans. But just like going to war, you will lose the life of some of your soldiers. In a working economy, you will have some downfalls.

Here is an example I would like to share. We definately have the technology to have all cars made now to run completely without gas. Why do we not use that technology now? We have to be whinned off of gas. If we stopped buying gas like we do now, our whole economy would collapse. All the people that work for gas stations would lose their jobs. Everyone that owns stock in gas or gas companies would lose their money. All the money that is being paid to our state and federal governments from the taxes in gas would be gone. Our government would go broke without those tax dollars. This is the same thing that will happen if the government were to strictly enforce the illegals being sent home.

We have the best technology and research because of the schools. Not because of what the Doctors and Hospitals are making on it. Our schools would be just the same and the same people would be going through the same schooling. We would have the same people doing the same research that we have in place now. Trust me, at our economic pace, the rest of the world would catch up and pass us on this field as well.

We are losing on the medical front as well. India is soon to be the medical leader in premium health care offerings with hundreds of Americans traveling annually to India, receiving top-of-the-line care through better doctors and equipment for about 1/4th the price. In fact, they (India's health care system) are adding space onto their existing ultra-modern hospitals as fast as they can in anticipation of increased international patient load. ....Time magazine. Imagine that!

The illegal immigrant issue isn't just about jobs... that's a small part of it. It's about taxes, health care, crime, gangs, reaping what's mine. Why should I work my ass off for 40+ years and pay taxes so Juan can get free money? Why should I pay my hospital bill when Julio doesn't have to? I'm all for immigration, we all came from somewhere.... but I'm sure majority of our families did it legally and we contribute to the country. All I see right now is MS13, a lot of jobless guys hanging out at 7-11, and a lot of crime. Ofcourse Mexico and other south american countries don't care because.... imagine if all the homeless, jobless, drug dealers, crime lords, and gang members want to relocate to Canada. Would we stop them? NO. So this whole thing is improving the Mexican econony while destroying ours.

Also, I hate the "they're just here to work and support their families" statements. It's like saying it's okay to be a drug dealer to little kids cause you're just trying to support your family. Now I'm sure there are a lot of "good" people that are coming over here illegally, but there are also a lot of "bad" ones that aren't registered. We try so hard to keep sex offenders registered in a database to protect people, yet we don't seem to mind the same kind of people coming across our borders to escape similar or worse crimes.

I'm not anti-Dem... I just wish they'd help solve the problems instead of putting the blinders on and wearing the heart on the sleeve for more votes. The Dems won because of Iraq. I don't know what their plans are, but we can't just pull out. Rebuilding Iraq and forming a democracy in the middle east is our goal. It makes it a lot easier to take down Iran and Syria, if needed. I'm interested to see how this all plays out in the next year.

We have excellence in those as fields in Canada too-our Government has a hand in things there; no doubt many places in Europe as well. Many of our highly skilled medical field professionals are coerced to work in the States by very happy recruiters.

ddz nothing- with the gas thing-Brazil has been making their own fuel for quiet awhile now and guess who's making it there?ARCO,Exxon,Mobil etc.. same as our oil companies here.Ive posted this before-why are we still dependent on oil?
