After a month of telephone line problems (dodgy line) finally got back to decent ping rates and wanted to get onto Barb and Forest. Only problem is after map loads (note any UO map) I get maybe 10 seconds before screen freezes and error message saying CODUOMP.exe has encountered a problem. No other error message. Tried safe mode with lowest graphic settings etc no go. Put console on to see if anything came up but nothing. Tried old NVIDIA driver and no change. Reloaded game and no go. All other games are fine e.g. COD2. Any suggestions welcome as driving me nuts. Nothing else has changed on PC from since COD worked fine. To those who say Hi when I join I'd like to reply but don't get chance !! huh.gif

I saw you trying to connect a couple of times yesterday, but you never did get into the game. I wondered what was up, now we know. I will give this some thought......have you checked multiplayer settings i.e. downloads - on, Punkbuster - yes, etc? Did you try reinstalling the patch (1.51 I think?) Might completely uninstall the game, then delete the program file, restart and re-install game and patch, double checking all multiplayer settings, then see what happens. Keep me posted.

Well SODs law. 30 mins after putting up post fixed it. Had previously gone through PB files but missed fact there was 2 dll's with same name except one marked as "old". Deleted newest one and hey presto sorted. Thanks for reply S@bot / Undead1. Now I can get back and have some fun.

Hey TBN. See you out there !

Capt.Furillo
Forget Hill St Blues I still have Punk Buster Blues. Thought I cracked it but no - back to square 1. Most times game freezes after 15 secs and then crashes OR I last maybe 2 mins and then freezes and crashes.
Have tried following:
1. PB Update. Tells me I have latest version. Nice
2. Deleted COD/Program folder and then full reinstall (with new copy of 1.51 patch)
3. I put console on and can see PB connecting to server and then see it receiving v1.249 A1362 C1.278. Then tells me I have no 0CVAR Violations but then bang

4. Out of interest have no PB problems if I roll back 1.51.patch ie can play fine on 1.4 with PB.

I hate PB. Any suggestions/bullet welcome.

Genocide Junkie
I have had a similar problem the past few days with COD2. I was getting an error that PB had to be enabled but if I tried to enable it the game crashed. I'm not sure if this is PB issue for me or not but I uninstalled the game, deleted the program files that were there, and reinstalled it. Since I've done that I've still had a couple problems with my computer freezing up durring the loading screen. I had to restart as ctl + alt + delete didnt work. Still a mystery for me so I'm hoping that you find out your issue as well.

MyWifesMule

I haven't had any PB problems, but I have had problems with other stuff. I found that there were duplicate config. files in my main/uo folder that prevented download communications.

I'd take a close look at your PB file folder for duplicate files, config. especially.

Hope ithis helps.

Thanks for advice but no go. Working with Even Balance support to see if they can solve problem though tried a couple of things they recommended with no luck. cussing.gif

Hi Capt. Furillo: From the sounds of it....PB may not be the problem. When you downloaded the patch for COD UO did you do this?

Important steps to follow before installing the patch:
  • It is recommended that any user modifications that have been installed to the Call of Duty directory be removed before installing this patch. These modifications are not supported by Activision and may not be compatible with some of the new features that are included.
  • Call of Duty does not support mods that have spaces in the mod's folder name. Be sure that the folder that contains your mod does not have spaces; otherwise users will not be able to download the files. For example, a mod in a folder called ‘My Mod’ would be invalid, whereas ‘MyMod’ or ‘My_Mod’ would work.
What you should do is uninstall the game..then re-install it. Download the CODUO patch and run it. Make sure your PB is on before you play multi-player.

Try it this way: try this ,with the #1 cd in the cd-rom tray

start>run>browse>click on arrow>click on cd drive
choose set up.... there should be an option to repair or
delete

delete than install the game

Hurry up we are waiting on the battlefield 4 YOU!!!!

I also found this....kind of the same as above...but might help you out:

Hardware issues can cause freezing, black screens and other
errors. Also, your drivers should always be kept up to date.

Try the following steps one at a time to try and resolve the issue.
I hope this helps. Please post back if you have any questions! :-)

1. Update DirectX and your Chipset, Sound, &Video Drivers:
For all Video / DirectX / Game and Hardware Issues, I have a
Checklist of Solutions at: http://NibblesNbitsVideo.tk

2. Dust your fans, vents and components using a 1/4" paintbrush
and a hose vacuum. Use compressed air for hard to reach places.
Set a housefan to blow cold air into your case to expose an over-
heating issue.. If it works add more fans or replace defective ones.
Use this Motherboard Monitor Utility: http://mbm.livewiredev.com

3. A faulty power supply can cause STOP errors, random reboots,
and black screen lockups. One way to test for that is to check the
wattage sticker on your power supply and then calculate your need
http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ (Min. 350 for gaming)
4. Test your RAM using: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Hellfighter
I think it's not a hardware problem though since he said the other games are running fine- so presumably its a cod uo directory 'thingy'. Likely some remnants of his old cod uo somewhere getting reinstalled when he does his fresh install of cod. Perhaps Capt.Furrilo you can use your system search function [do you have windows] and then do a search for all the cod UO game files you see in your cod directory make a note if you find any files not in the current directory and later delete them if they show up after you uninstall UO again.

Hellfighter is touching on an area that certainly needs addressing.

Here's the plan:

1. Uninstall the game - ALL of it, Call of Duty and Call of DutyUO.

2. Reboot the computer

3. Go to Start, my computer, C drive, program files, call of duty folder and delete it. Close out of that.

4. Go to Start, run, and in the box type "regedit" without the quotes

5. Go to Hkey_local_machine, (click on the little box with the "+" sign and drop the menu down)

6. Go to Software, and click on the little box with the "+" sign on it

7. Go to Activision and if there is a box with a "+" on it click it as well.

8. When you see the folders "Call of Duty" and Call of Duty United Offensive, right click on each of them and select "delete".

9. Once you have deleted both files, exit out of there and reboot the computer.

Do you have a cleaner program on your machine that gets rid of old file extensions etc? If you do not, the let me recommend one. Here it is. It is free and it works really well.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

Once you install it, run it. It will have a menu and you will need to select run the "cleaner" and then run the "Issues" . This program will get rid of useless extensions that lead no where and cause computers to slow down and crash etc.

Then Defrag your hard drive using Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk defrag.

Then, re-install COD and its' update patch. Then install CODUO and its' update patch. After that reboot your computer and then try to connect to our servers and see what happens. You should be good to go!

Let us know how you make out with the fixes.

As I am not Politically Correct, I always wish a Merry Christmas, as it is "Christ" that is the reason for the season, as they say. So, all the best to you and yours, Captain. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Hellfighter, you are much too busy to be tied up with the small stuff so I thank you, sir, for allowing me to step in and jot down a plan to help our friend Furillo. I hope it works!

Merry Christmas to you and the very best the new year has to offer!

Capt.Furillo
Well happy new year to you all. Update is that Santa must have fixed PC. Came back from 10 days in NY and everything was working fine. The only thing I did was run Windows update and download 6 non critical patches, otherwise PC was as I left it before xmas ie knackered re COD. MOB must work in mysterious ways!

Thanks for all feedback and have a happy 2007. mobrules.gif
