Yeah, kinda makes one wonder if CODUO is heading into the final stages of it's gaming life, or is it just that some of the maps have become stagnet, or perhaps consoles have eaten what's left of the PC market.
Combination of that and more?
What will the next generation {MOB} Clan main event game be? Has it hit the shelves yet, or has it not yet been unveiled? These are the questions inquiring minds ponder from time to time............

Noticeable decline in the amount of peopled servers these days. Seems to have dropped about 3 months ago.
Servers are still there, there's just no-one on them.
That's a good question Sabot. Is the game here or on its way. Maybe COD4, due summer 2007, it's been rumored. Will it feature BA? Hmmmm.

Post-Christmas will be an interesting time for COD diehards. We could see a considerable die-off as people start to play with their new games and consoles. Double sigh.
Playing on a nearly empty Broadsword server this afternoon I found myself thinking about the severe limitations in map size and numbers of vehicles.
One positive that we can cling to is the TWL 6v6 ladder seems to be staying active and the competition seems to only get better.

Game play on TWL is a good measure of game popularity. It is interesting to make a count of how many teams are in each of the games. You might be surprised at which game has the most teams associated with it.

I truly hope that the next game is something all the good people of MOB adapt too. It's well worth it to me to play with my Bro's.
I was out for the month of october and notice a drop in players when I was able to get back on. Hope it's not on it's way out. COD UO is the only game I play.

There are still "plenty" of people playing MOHAA. CODUO wont die because of BA. It's the only thing like it out there. So, there will be coduo ba for quite a while. It's a fairly unique game. The rest of cod may die off, and BA may be getting smaller, but I think BA will outlast the rest of the cod games. Only because of the tank aspect.

MOH - Airborne looks promising.
I AGREE !! it looks awesome! im amazed at the fact that any one who does a quality ww2 MULTIPLAYER game it gets game of the year and sells a billion copies and not one company will pick up where u/o left off. activision completely put a gun to its head and pulled the trigger impo ,cod3 got shitty reviews.
i really hope moh comes up big, right now the ball is in their court.
cod 3's game play was determined by a completely different group than cod and cod/ou. I believe the german group did those... I don't like the game play of cod 2 and I will wait to see cod 3...
Why a company that scores a home run, gives the next gen to another group is beyond me... The attention to detail and accuracy made cod and cod/uo amazing... why tamper with perfection??
I would like to see a Japenese version with sea and air battles, but their ground equipment sucks...

You know I have never thought about it but there is a lack of WWII games including Japan. I guess because most of it was fought on the seas and in the air. That brings in a whole other area of coplicated I think. Anyway I think our games are still doing fine. We are still drawing new recruits and on COD2 our TDM server is rocking almost every night now. I've noticed it with about 15-20 ppl in it w/o ANY MOB members in there a couple times the past couple weeks. I'm sure a new game is around the corner. Someone will figure out that we arent buying the stuff they are putting out and make a game we enjoy. Until then I'll keep on playing COD2.

This would be my dream combat simulation game (NOT BF).
I would like a Dynamic Environment (Never Ending). And don't worry for MP you can set proximities.
All building doors functional, even if only one room available.
Natural Terrain Advantages - eg, Jumping/Climbing into trees. Onto roofs of buildings etc...
All vehicles function, whether purposeful or not. (Flashpoint and the Tozer!)
Vehicle Functionality Damage. Tank takes heavy hit to turret-turret won't turn.
Vehicle travel not limited by boundaries such as trees, bushes, and small terrain. Drive thru or over anything unless not possible in reality.
Weapons Packages, (Like RB6) Add and choose, weapons and equipment. Pick satchels, sticky's, more/less ammo for weight.
Anti-Tank Rifles.
HEALTH! No COD2 BS where, I shoot you in the face and you don't die-yet run around the corner till the red goes away and viola brand new again... And before you argue at least I have to work for my healthpak in UO.
And finally if it be another WW2 FPS, I would like it to include the Japanese Campaign, but not neglect the current Americans, British, And GERMAN players/campaign out.
Lots of good points there. I'd like to see said game. What I really wish is games would spend less try trying to be prettier and prettier (i.e. fancier graphics) and instead devote more processing power to making the whole enviroment interactive. As I told a friend before, I want to start a base assult map when the town is in PERFECT shape. Nothing is smashed or burnt out. Then, over the next 35 minutes WE destroy it! Our tanks smash through fences, over trees, through the corner of buildings. A doorway does NOT stop a tank shell. A small bench NEVER stops a tank in it's track, no sir!
That's when gaming will be really cool. But the whole industry has long been stuck in the rut of putting all effort into making pretty graphics that look nice on the box covers, and ignoring the game play. I mean really, how the hell does a wodden fence stop a tank, jeep, or even a soldier from climbing over it? It doesn't. Let's make a game that doesn't pretend it does!
As for the makers of COD, it is unbelievable that they've let a franchaise falter so badly. COD/UO took the series to the next level, the fact we are still playing it after all this time is testement to that, and thru 2 sequels now they've ignored many of the things that made it so great, especially the UO multipler. The makers should be ashamed.

Mike definitely has a point here. If you go to TWL's site, scan the competition field and look under all games played on ladder competitions, COD2 has more active ladder teams than ANY other game.
Including European and North American ladders, COD2 sports an impressive 1,988 active teams. Second place goes to America's Army with 1,632 teams. CODUO weighs in with a mere, but solid, 293 teams active in the various ladder competitions. (no, I didn't double check, so I could be off by a few here and there.)
Just thought I'd toss those out there for conversational purposes.

Great list, Radiation!
Back in the dark ages, there was a WWII Pacific theater air combat game called Hellcats of the Pacific. It was a really well done flight sim that eventually turned into Graphsim's FA/18 Hornet. How I wish they could combine Hellcats with COD UO. That would be INCREDIBLE!!

it seems when anyone releases the pacific version the game goes into the toilet.this was untrue with bf1942 ,they had a balanced german ,g african, british amarican ,rusky and japanese campaigns, all including air, land and sea combat.they came out with secret weapons bs which killed that series. bfs gameplay was nothing like what radiations talking about though. if u/o had takien a step further and added some things maps campaigns(which is what they lead you to believe with the trailer) it wouldve been awesome.i find my self lately while playing cod2 just feeling its not authentic whats so ever,no offense to the cod2 guys-you definetly have my respect.
im not getting my hopes up for the moh to bad.i got my hopes up for red orchestra and all though its got a great graphics i find you have TOO MUCH TO DO to operate a guy in a ww2 battle, its ok though and ive been playing it a bit more lately.

I'm know many of the TWL UO folks are signed up on the COD2 teams as well. But if COD2 is "all that" then UO would have perished by now. That speaks volumes.
Completely agree with everyone. I too was very disappointed in the gameplay of COD2. No BA, auto-health, and no sprint feature just sucks all the fun out of the game. I'm all for graphics, but if the gameplay is not there, then who cares about grahics. Once again, if graphics were "all that" then UO would be dead.
The reason the European Theatre is more prevelant is because of the dominating personality of Hitler and the German war machine. The Japanese and the Pacific were too unknown and to far removed for many to identify with. And so it goes just 50 some years later.
Pleeeeeease get it right COD4! Or do we have to wait for COD4.5 in '08. Ugh!
There is much to be accomplished with tank warfare yet.
Imagine a dark and stormy afternoon when Cory and David are both desperately trying to climb the south hill at opposite ends on Kursk. The rain is pouring and thick mud is causing their tracks to slip. Despite the delay, Cory finally reaches "88 position" near the top but can't make out if any panzers are incoming. Suddenly a lighting bolt cracks through the sky and illuminates 2 panzers hiding behind the hail bail. Cory desperately swings his death machine to the left while he watches 2 75mm shells come ripping through hay straight at him. One shell bounces harmlessly off his thick front armor and careems into the windmill causing it to collapse and crush Cowdoc inside. But the other shell violently explodes and shatters his left side track severly impeeding his turning speed. He fires, cuasing one tank to explode and flip on it's side. Cory immediately bails and crawls into the remaining hay pile.
Meanwhile Cross has finished the plant at R2. As he stares at the rainwater pouring down the strairs he desperalty tries to listen through the rain and thunder for an unwelcomed visitor. Scene fades...
Will Cory, tarred and feathered, with mud and hay make it to R2 in time to defuse?
As David crunches through the South Ruins will he notice the Russian motorcyle coming through the pass, with a Sticky Bomb with his name on it?
Stay tuned....

I don't get all the knocks on COD2 about game play. To me the game play is lots better than COD or UO. Not just for graphics. I do wish they had done an expansion with the base assault so that everyone could be happy with it. I don't find the health regeneration any less realistic than picking up a green box off the ground. There are obviously things that are annoying but with all of the custom maps and mods that allow for sprinting (which I hate) etc. there's something for almost everyone. Everyone talks about it being a run and gun game (you can actually do quite well with a rifle) but even though TDM is very popular I think CTF and SD especially are played in great numbers. Both of those games require tactics and a premium on staying alive that TDM doesnt offer. On most maps there really is no need for sprint because of the size of the maps. It's not like with TF or Barb where the map is so big you need a vehicle. I dunno I just don't see the flaws as being so bad that COD2 isnt enjoyable to play. Much more enjoyable for non bas maps than UO imo. Obviously bas isnt available in 2 so if bas is the thing you enjoy then you will need to look elsewhere.

I got crushed by a barn! what a pointless way to die. I would much prefer to be wounded and crushed under the tread of Corey's heavy but with my dying breaths plant a sticky bomb that saves the plant at R2. Of course your version definitely resembles my most recent gameplay more accurately. Stupid pointless, uneventful death. In the last couple of weeks, I have been killed more by running past an abandoned vehicle that proceeds to blow up as I go by than by enemy fire.

NOT SURE SO DONT GRILL ME, but the pc i just bought came with a "discover gaming are" which i believe i can play console games. it wouldnt matter anyway-im bored with woopin the computers ass at everything-multiplayer -theres always someone smarter!!
what im suprised about is from a salesmens point of view-you take a small up and coming company who wants to make a name ,who then picks up where u/o left (same engine etc..)off adds a few things (like a tiger tank) or even just does a african campaign (keeps base assault etc..)-they will get the game of the year, automaticlly!! theyll make enough money to make what ever they want the next time around.
i would love to have an all german attack multiplayer game.the axis campaign would be impresive!!

I loved that game- I stopped only because the graphics appeared too stiff compared to what's out now. Did you ever download the zillions of Mods for OFP, Cross? -> in particular the huge WW2 mod that contained every vehicle and fighter plane for most nations just about. Unfortunately I uninstalled OFP before I could use mods I d/l like Civil War and Napoleonic War figures! I even managed to getting around to skinning a couple of model figures! There was so much incredible modeller talent in that online community.

Ohhh, they got that Star Wars one up finally.... There was even a lego mod too !!! Well I think its better I cut my ties to OFP. I was getting obsessed with it too much and the never ending swamp of good mods- not to mention you could make your own missions/maps/scenarios -and it never felt tedious making those projects! OFP was definately too much of a good thing. I think the new OFP spin off is coming out soon- I forgot the game title name,
Hey guys, "Modern Weapons Custom Maps" still gets full everyday. Even "{MOB} Fly Planes Modern Weapons" is picking up steam - it's been full every evening for awhile now. So, all is not lost.
And something to think about, seems like every year, from the start of the school year til just after the new years, servers have fewer players in general. After the new years, it begins to pick up, but doesn't really pick up full-blast until summer. It's all about summertime, when kids are out of school. Just my 2 cents.
Great story vinny. I think we should look at is why some of these other servers are always full such as CSA and CKIs with the planes. Some people say we are too strict on our policys. I play at these servers sometimes and really dont see much of a difference.
