"A reliable source close to the Call of Duty development teams has revealed not only the existence of Call of Duty 4, but vital details surrounding the game as well, including the fact that it will be based on modern combat.

According to our source, Call of Duty 4 will be developed by Infinity Ward, the developer behind the first and second installments. The three-way deal established between Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Activision states that Infinity Ward will develop all even numbered titles while Treyarch develops the odd numbered games, such as Call of Duty 3. Treyarch did develop Call of Duty 2: Big Red One as well, however.

As aforementioned, Call of Duty 4 is said to step away from the war torn locales of World War II, instead focusing on the battlefields of present day. It is unknown if it will take the same path as Electronic Arts’ Battlefield franchise, placing the spotlight on the Middle East."

Of course this is not OFFICIAL but I hope is not true.

Don't worry. Steel can just reverse her Modern Weapons mod and turn mod the game into WWII! LOL!

You would have thought,that seeing as we "the people" buy and play these games,they would at least see what clans are playing them regularly,and ask how it could be improved,rather then just saying "ok,how much cash can we make this time",After all its us that pay for the game and use it more then them.

Who knows what the hell their thinking, maybe they think the WWII fps games have run their course and want to get on the same bus as the Battlefield franchise.

I hope when MOH Airborne comes out it blows their doors off, morons don't even listen to the people that actually play the game, and we all know what a hard core bunch we are. Were not asking for miracles are we?

Well Call of Duty games already have big holes in them, and I think these fuckers dont know theres a game out called BF2.

What worries me even more is that CoD 3 and 4 will not be available for PC ... game-consoles only for CoD3 so far.
So no massive multiplayer online action ??

the thing is i am addicted to gaming . but i really like fps in mp and don't mess with the single player at all really.i do play games like chess and risk but since i was a young kid i have been absolutely fascinated with world war 2.i played with the toys as a child and read a lot of books when i got older,hell,i cant pass the history channel if anything ww2 is on.with this in mind,the first time i played a mp ww2 game i was instantly hooked and I'm pretty shore I'm not alone. i think this is what the guys upstairs are missing`!

i don't believe that the majority of the console buyers are play ww2 games.i know they probably could give a crap to know the difference between a panzer 4 and p5 . the bf series did this exact same thing,sucks! the ball is totally in mohs corner right now. im curious as to the difference in sales between- cod u/o,cod2 and cod3 -that could be interesting.

I think that COD2 is bigger right now BECAUSE its not as tactical as Cod/UO. In my opinion it was the simplicity of MOHAA that was so appealing. That's what COD2 brought back. The old run and gun.

Even when Mohaa Airborne is available, I don't think it will be the same as the original. Its the same reason why myself and my friends still prefer the original tecmo superbowl over something like Madden NFL 07. For my friends and I, its the relaxing simplicity that wins us over rather than the complex realism. But then again, I am from the old generation.

Incorrect, COD3 is for the consoles and COD4 is for the PC.

well that it, activision is catching up to EA on the BSometer, i bet they but spyware in it like EA's 2142, lets hope that its stays ww2 and they add TANKS and whatnot but mostly tanks, cause i think that would be good, or jsut make an expansion for cod2 with that stuff that would be kool too.

they cant give bf2142 away for free,i think thats where activision wants to be.
