I am experiencing problems that I am hoping someone may know something that could help me.

Here is the problem: cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif cussing.gif

On the average my fps is 20-22fps. When close to someone else or with lots of activity going on it will even drop to single digits.

It is especially frustrating when I come up against someone that is getting decent fps. More times than I care to remember I have come up against someone and have them cold turkey dead to rights. I open on them first but they can turn and even kill me and they don't have a scratch. Now... before someone says improve my marksmanship.. please don't go there.

Here is the equipment that I am running:

Gateway E-3600

Windows XP Pro SP3

Intel P4 1.50 gig processor

8k primary mem cache

256k secondary mem cache

40.02 Gig Hard drive (with 20gigs free)

100 meg Bus Clock

Intel Bios

768 Megs Memory

Dell 24" wide angle monitor 1920x1440 res

RADEON X850Pro 256Meg GDDR3 memory

If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks everyone mobrules.gif

Ok, you might want to sit down for this Doyle. IMO the only decent part of your system is your video card. Your bottleneck is your cpu and lack of memory. 40 gig hard drives tend to be a bit on the slow side as well. As uncomfortable as this might be to hear, I believe it's time to shift that computor to #2 position and go for a newer one. Not a lot of money involved to go to a used (and there are plenty out there) P4 2.8 or 3.0 with a 800fsb. Decent motherboard 478 for cheap and at least a gig of ram. 200 gig hard drives are way under $100 these days. Stick that Radeon X850 Pro in and you'll be fine for COD.

But then you knew this all along wink.gif

Unfortunately I did however was hoping for some solution without having to spend the money for a computer just to be able to play this silly game.

Doyle, we should get on vent and figure this out... Pain is right on the money, but I am spec'ed out not so different from you except proc, 2ghz but strangely have "relatively decent" fps (well 50 - 70 fps).

And I am on an old 9550 ATI AGP 8x card... I think you could improve this depending on some of your settings. Also are you running in a window or what is your resolution? I find I loose as much as 20% of my fps when I run in a window... Does this change at all depending on settings you choose?

Let me find that performance thread and post it tomorrow! You won't be getting 125 fps but if you can get over 50 that is what I play with... playable, not sure?

Then we jump on vent and see if we can get some of these minds at work to increase your FPS to double digits. smile.gif

Have you tried doing any of this
As before I did it,my FPS was around 20...but after it has gone up to around 120..

Hey some_help

When you say running in a window; not quite sure of what you mean here but will take a stab at a response. No I am not running in a window, if you mean I have other programs running that I switch to while playing the game.

When I get ready to play I start the vent, the coduo minimizer then the game. I do not have anything else running other than NAV in the background. I have it set so that I am not scanning or updating or downloading.

As for the rest, I look forward to getting with you and seeing what we can do.

It certainly would be better to play at 50 to 60 as opposed to single digit to low 20fps.

Thank you for your response.

Hey Doyle,

Im no computer guru, but a friend of mine that is once told me that the larger my screen I use, the lower the FPS I will have. I really dont know how true this is, but just wanted to throw that out there because I seen how big your screen was.

Hey Cross

Thanks for your response.

Yes I have already done this. Abuse gave me this link earlier and I did what was indicated.

The only thing is prior to making these changes I did not have my fps showing in the game, so I can honestly tell you if it made a difference or not.

I just know that after making the changes the fps I have indicated is what I am getting.

Thank you

Now that is scary! ohmy.gif

If that were true then that would mean I have been lying to my bride the past 1.6 years about bigger is BETTER! w00t2.gif w00t2.gif w00t2.gif

If you go into the main menu of the game go to options... graphics...turn setting down turn sync every frame off, these two things will increase frame rates alot.

Doyle,

Try running it without the minimizer then without Vent and leave the FPS display on to see what happens. I haven't used the minimizer (meant to but haven't found the time) but I'm thinking it's a "window" as mentioned above.

drop the resolution to 1024x768 and turn the mip map quality up in your vid card setting so it stay crisp that should bring it up
