i am in need of some insight that i am hopping someone might have.
i (as i am sure most of you as well) have a multi-button mouse. i have to date only been able to get functionality from buttons 1,2, and 3 (left, right, and middle). i am searching for the way in which to enable buttons 4, 5, 6, etc.
can anyone point me in the correct direction for this inquiry or tell me to "go pound sand - it can't be done".

What type mouse is it? Mine has software that allows me to assign keystrokes to those buttons. If you have a midrange mouse it probably can do the same.

hey junkie... thanks for the interest.
i have a standard 5 - button tilt wheel microsoft mouse. left - primary fire / right - alt fire / roll button - melee.
i have buttons 4 and 5 just above my thumb. these buttons work without any software nativley in winblows but when i attempt to assign them in the options panel they have no effect (don't register). typically they control foward/backwards actions through say web page browsing.
let me ask you Junkie - are you able to assign more then 3 buttons in your options panel on the game setup?
thanks

hey some_help
here is the exact mouse i am currently using.
http://reviews.cnet.com/Microsoft_Wireless...7-31140753.htmlit is the same design as many of the microsoft mice.
please keep in mind that if some of you are using mice that interact with the game with more then 3 buttons being recognized please sound off and i will probably stop by bestbuy on the way home. i especialy like that new logitech mouse. some MX blah blah....

My mouse is a logitech g7 and it came with software to program for example the x key to my thumb button. I can then program the x key in the game to any function I like. So while the game may limit the mouse to 3 buttons the software allows me to use the others by assigning key strokes to the buttons.

Found this in that link...
As for the mouse half of this duo, it is flawless. You can use the wireless mouse immediately after the fingerprint reader/receiver is installed, but to get the full benefits from this five-button mouse, you need to install the software. Doing this takes mere seconds and enables the tilt-wheel scrolling feature. The software is very intuitive and allows you to customize the buttons with a variety of commands, including back and forward on the Internet (these work with browsers other than IE).
So you should have software to do this.... if not I'm sure you can download it.

A++
Spot-on.
in fact i feel a bit foolish having not sorted it out myself. simply loading the mouse software gave me all the functionality i need. i mapped the appropriate keys to the desired buttons and viola !
thanks for the help.

good deal... glad i could help
Hey Overheated,
that's what we do here....help each other out. When I got my new keyboard Cross of Iron and OldManMike helped me get it set up quick... if it was not for them, it would have taken me days. Then Crazy Canuck and Cross tell me about the updates. It really helps and saves alot of time.
