Tomorrow is the anniversary date of a good friend of mine who was killed one year ago in Iraq. He was SO very proud to be a Marine and to be serving there. While his death was/is certainly trajic to his family, his mom emailed me and told me she would never have taken away his experiences in the Marines.

I knew him as a mentor/leader through the Boy Scouts as his Asst. Scoutmaster and knew his family through church.

He was a great kid with LOADS of personality. His fellow Marines, enlisted and officers, spoke so very highly of him. He was the one who took the new folks under his wing and showed them the ropes reguardless of rank.

Gentlemen, let us raise a glass to Cpl. David A. Bass USMC.

Thanks to ALL who have served.

(The attached pics are of David in his dress blues and the other was at a military show we attended at which he got to sit in a friend of mine's Daimler armored car.)

Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve;

In many a strife we've fought for life And never lost our nerve.

If the Army and the Navy Ever gaze on Heaven's scenes,

They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.

Oooh Raaah! Semper Fi!!
