Well this was all over my news all day and you guys probably read or saw it. They arrested some people for planning on attacking Fort Dix in NJ. The thing is they trained for this about 25 miles from me in the pocono's in pennsylvania. I used to deliver in the housing development they rented a house in. Makes you worry a lot more when its close to home. Makes it feel like there is no safe place especially with nuclear power plants around me.

Wow Cero, nothing like keeping your enemies close. I'm glad you're safe, most people would never think that a terrorist cell is right next door, but that's what they they try to do.... blend in.

Better to have a gun and not need it, then to need a gun and not have it!

it would've been a hostile environment for all Muslims in this country if these guys had been successful.
Bargod
Irish-Americans used to bring in IRA members and train them in the Poconos in making roadside bombs and using assault rifles. Glad to see the Poconos aren't just for Honeymoon's and summer homes. Aaah, beautiful Mt. Airy Lodge. Champagne glass hot tubs and firing ranges.

Sounds to me like another fantasy party. Another crew of guys practicing a terrorist attack by, used guessed it, paintballing! LOL!

Yeah, they finally tried to buy some guns, probably offered to them by the undercover guy that was with them, but I suspect these guys would have ended up like most local backwoods militia losers...fantasizing about doing something but not actually being either stupid enough or courageous enough (take your pick) to actually do anything...beyond paintballing each other or shooting some targets behind an old garage.

Anyway, just IMO, but these guys were ready to attack a US MILITARY BASE? In their dreams! biggrin.gif

BTW, not saying they shouldn't have been arrested. Just saying this ain't your mass attack, Al Queda super-terrorist. Like I point out above, more like a backyard militia-wannabe type except in Muslim garb instead of jeans and camo jackets. One truly crazy person was probably more dangerous than this dirty half-dozen.

it funny, i used to deliver to Tobyhanna army depot, which is right down the street from all this. I heard that they have some serious fire power on back up if needed.

Best not to scoff at a bunch of psychos intents.... its pretty safe to assume they knew they'd be obliterated after doing whatever damage they could do.

Have you heard about the latest quirk of quirks.... NRA wants to stop the government from banning 'suspected' terrorists from buying guns; hmmmmmmmmmm.....................

Anyway I agree with Jack.... there aren't too many periods in history where the common person doesn't fear some calamity about to wipe them out... in the 1950s/60s it was imminent threat of nuclear war-with what-to-do-when a bomb hits your town tv-info-mercials. In the 1970s and 80s there were terrorist attacks everywhere [or in the US pysho-spree killers/ gangs slaughtering the locals] and the realisic threat of an accidental start of a nuclear war to destroy the world a zillion times over. Then in the 90s drugs gave rise to psycho gangs and druglords all over the world with how many innocents being terrorised or killed by getting caught in crossfires or targets of crackheads. Even deeper is the revelation about how some judges continuously give a free pass to felons- the Paris Hilton story may be amusing to some, but its morons like her that kill people when they thumb their noses up at the law. So I agree anything at anytime can happen to us. hey- that dark spot in the sky is getting pretty big................. blink.gif

I had the same feeling, until I was listening to a news report about their actual plan the other night, and they actually had a pretty decent plan. Their plan (apparently) was to wait for a bottle neck at the base entrance early in the AM, and just mow down everyone in their cars. Hit the guards first, then the first and last cars in line to jam the works up, and then get everyone else. They could have done a huge body count that way. I can recall how massive the traffic jams were in the morning at the Charleston naval base when I was stationed there. they could have realistically had a body count of well over 100 before any fire was brought down on them.

Thank the Big guy that their plan was foiled! flamethrowingsmiley.gif
