Well, guys, we start shooting Bubba's Chili Parlor Monday, June 18th. Aside from being associate producer I have a small role in the film as "Zombie Lord". This will require my head getting blown off. To prepare for this our make-up/FX guys had to make a life cast of my head. This process took about half an hour to 45 minutes. It was hard to tell in the sensory depravation of having all that crap on your head with only two small nose holes to breathe out of.
By the way, two of these guys are complete strangers, the third I barely know...

The make-up/FX guys are all graduates of Tom Savini's special effects make-up school in Pittsburgh. They were all totally professional and kept me at ease the entire time. If you notice I'm giving lot's of "thumbs up" during the process. That's because they were constantly checking on me to make sure I was ok. At times they had to tap me on the shoulder as I was zoning out most of the time. The only thing that kept me from complete relaxation was the constant blare of Canibal Corpse playing in the background. It wasn't the music I would have chosen for the experience, but, not much you can do once they start the process. At the end you see the final product was not everything we hoped for. There was a slight problem with the procedure (probably my fault). The mold ended up a bit distorted. We have decided that it will actually work better, as I'm a rotting and decaying zombie, after all.

Thanks to the good people of Wills Point, Texas, we are finally getting this film made. One man in particular has been a great help to us. That man is Wild Bill, who was kind enough let us use the back of his haunted house as our workshop. That's where we are in the Youtube. Wild Bill has also (without our asking) started making gadgets for us to help with the effects, such as a guac gun (invented by Robert Rodriguez as an alternative to squibs) and "blood sprayers" (for when limbs and my head come off). Wild Bill is also letting us shoot on his property and will be letting us use a trailer on his land for our workshop there.
We were also lucky to meet the proprietor of the Tanglewood Marina on Lake Tawakoni. He happens to own a little restaurant that is exactly the kind of place Bubba's Chili Parlor would look like. This saved us many hundreds of dollars in construction cost at our former location (since it had been vandalized heavily since we scouted it 2 years ago). Not only is it now our priciple location, but we can also use the kitchen to feed everyone. He's renting it to us for next to nothing. And to top it off, he'll let us have it for $500 a month to run a restaurant out of when we are done shooting. A tempting idea since it is right on the marina.

Another recent boon has been the support of David Arquette. My buddy Mike (producer/Bubba) met him at a horror festival a few months back when he was promoting The Tripper. Well, oddly enough they have kept in contact through Myspace and Mike asked if it would be OK to use a Tripper poster in one of our scenes. DA not only said "yes", but is now sending all remaining Tripper paraphernalia to us, hats, shirts, etc... and has said that he will help promote the film when it's done! Wow! Thanks Mr. Arquette!

Well, this will be the first of what I'm sure will be many installments. I'll keep you all updated on how things are going and hopefully will have more videos and pics to share with everyone.

Thanks all.

Canuck - I plan on switching from Time Warner to the new ATT fiber optic deal soon. As soon as I do that I think I'll be able to play again (time allowing at the moment).
Snotty - Yes
redline - 30 to 45 minutes. Yes, it feels like your head is in cement by the end, but it's an inner mind experience.
Sauce Meister - Thanks. I'm hoping to premiere it online in private to a select group. I'm not sure if that will work out, but it's the plan at the moment.
Of course, MOB will be invited.
