My best friends grandmother was a WASP.She would deliver brand new Hellcats,etc to the west coast get back on a train and return here to LI.She was one of the few,and very proud of her service to our country.
One day I visited her years ago with my bud and she said would you like to see my plane.I was young and was like yeaaa.We went to Gebreski airport and thier was her cesna 152.At that time she was 72 years old and still had an active flying licence.I do regret not really sitting down with her and asking her questions about her experiences fly those awsome planes.History lost for ever my fault..the stories she could have told could have been passed on but now are lost..im an idiot..they say if history is not written or recorded it never happened kinda holds true.
Then again after reading Ms steels post about highschool kids..thats pathetic..so much for all the bucks we spend on education these days.There more interested in Brittany Spears,and who has the more stylish cell phone these days.Leave no kid behind thats a laugh.

How on earth could that be? Mistakenly believing the Russians weren't allies, perhaps I could understand. After all, they were only allies of convienence. However, thinking Germany was on the Allied side...wtf???

Its the same world over- that half of thick headed kids [sorry] are destined to be clueless about their past- its the same world over.... up here in Canada too->maybe worse; in UK -on tv they spoke with someone who didn't even know who Nelson was!!!!- in Japan, my ex-gf [japanese] didn't even know about the battle on iwo jima [and she had an ex-bf in Japan who idolized nazi paraphenalia
I took her to a bookstore and showed her a book with pics of nazi sonnerkommandos at work] - and then on tv I saw a little documentary about a large russian gang/movement of skinheads in Moscow who idolized Hitler 
!!! After I saw that nothing surprises me anymore about people-stupidity . Even beating sense into their heads would even be pointless.ps- why is this in War on Terror forum
