I hope you let your heads get fat with pride.......Please do so! -well well earned.
You've made history and proven what the USA is all about - progressively leading the world and human potential.
From how I see it most of you born Americans are not aware how much that outside of your borders and around the world your election process was envied and admired. No doubt citizens in most of these nations will never see such extraordinary times in their lifetime.... Including Canada.
I go along with all of McCain's magical concession speech tonight.
I can't speak as a Black American, but you know me as the limey/canuck Sidney Poitier lookalike who in all these years in the forums takes every opportunity in threads good and bad where warranted to show in detail when various races and women fought in the same wars together alonside each other. I know a bit about black American history and how whites, women and blacks struggled together for the freedoms of blacks in America. I'm not a 'pride' person, but it was moving tonight to see blacks amongst whites TOGETHER proud of their place in history and how far they'd come together. Outside of that all you Americans of ALL races tonight have had your place in world history for eternity. This is the marking of an era -you may be too humble to see it in such proportions, but globally you've just been seen to materialize a dream that cannot likely occur anywhere else or if so perhaps in another age...... This turning point in history ranks with Waterloo / Man Walking on the Moon / D-Day / Nuke age dawning.....
I hope you can all unite - I'm certain the rest of the world seeks you to be in the forefront of progress - and those 'characters' that were previously scoffing at your system's fracturing in the last few years are now taking note at your unity and the renewed power and potential of liberty -not to mention the power of the diversity of all your citizens in the democratic process -even when candidates and voters were at each others throats at times.
You Americans had an Outstanding democratic machinery in place. I honestly never thought Obama had no more than a slim chance of victory but his perseverence and his support and the hopes of many believing in him prevailed -through peace.
McCain'sstated that he's got Obama's '6' too - and I'm sure Obama is EXTREMELY grateful for that.
They both had class act UNITYspeeches to end the night - no doubt there are some creeps in the world now sleeping uneasy at night if they thought the USA was spiralling downwards in fragments..... hah
And the smacktards [like some in Canada that I went head to head with online and in person over the issue] who scoffed persistently about pervading racism in the USA are now eating extra helpings of their feet and crow......
The ceremony will be over soon enough and the real gritty challenges will begin.
Stay together you good folks.
