So, what's your opinions on the newest season of UFC Heavyweights? I think it's mostly crap that they would let Kimbo (the beard) Slice fight after all their crap saying how he wasn't a real fighter. I appreciate the "you have to work your way through the ranks of the UFC TV series first, but its crap. Either he is the type of fighter you want or he isn't. I say let him die his post internet fame death and be done with it.
Then again, who wouldn't like to see Kimbo Slice fight Brock Lesnar in the "who is the biggest douche bag" fight?

Dana said from day one that Kimbo wasn't cut out for MMA and that the only way he'd ever sniff the UFC was to buy a ticket or join the cast of TUF. I'm betting his contract didn't look anything like the other wannabees on there though. I think Mr. Slice was low on options to boot. I'm wondering how much influence Dana had one who fights when in this one. I don't think it was by chance that Kimbo didn't fight in the first fight. Internet rumors have been saying he gets ktfo pretty quickly in his first fight. He for sure looked slow, unskilled, and very small for the heavyweights. We shall see I guess.
Robert
I saw an interview with Kimbo, he said "You know what I'm saying" about a 1000 times. Just like a pro boxer, i think he's taken one to many hits to the head. On the other hand, You would automatically think he's a an arrogant prick but he's actually a decent guy and very humble.

Very unimpressed with the show so far, they made it way to much about Kimbo.
The 1st fight was a joke, the guy who lost did zero and they guy won didn't do much better.

You don't give the guy that lost (Abe) enough credit. He was doing his best to get the flesh out of the way on his head so that he could break the other guys hand or elbow with his bare skull. I rarely get bothered by the blood but that one was pretty bad. Steve Mazzagati is going to get someone killed. He's terrible about letting fights go way too long. It's one thing to give someone a chance to fight and recover and completely another to let someone have a canyon dug through their forehead.

On a side note I can't believe Rampage punked out and isn't going to fight in December. I absolutely hate Rashad "No Class" Evans and was looking forward to seeing him turned into a bobble head again. I hope Dana gets him straightened out between now and then.
*Triggahappy13*
I would put most of the blame on the first fight on Rampage, he put a guy who is all stand up against a guy who is all about the ground game. But should have recognize that all the other going was going to do is try and take him down. But he has my respect for somehow continuing with that grand canyon on his forehead.

I am also a Kimbo fan

And I don't think you're giving Lesnar enough credit. He comes off as a douche because everyone boos him because he came from the WWE and still don't realize how good of a wrestler he is. I believe he had only 1 loss in his career at the U of M. And Frank Mir deserved to get fucked up that fight. Reports were that he was talking so much shit is was crazy. and that's who mir is....he also is one of the most ugly persons I have ever seen

I'm officially calling Shens on the internet rumor Kimbo gets beat down in his 1st fight.
I don't see Mr. big county bringing much to the fight. Sure Roy might squeak out a win if he gets it to the ground but it only takes one punch from Kimbo.
Whats really sad is the fact Kimbo could get into the UFC only shows how weak the UFC heavy weight division is.
Just look at UFC 103, the prelims were better fights than either of the main card events. I'm a fan of both Franklin and Cro-cop but they probably would have been cut already if it wasn't for their name recognition. I got bored a while back an downloaded all of Cro-Cop and Fedor old fights. Cro-Cop isn't even a shadow of his former self. He just lost 3 of his last 4 fights and probably would have lost the other one if it wasn't for an eye poke the refer didn't see.

Looking forward to the show even though it's pathetic how all these guys have gassed in the 1st round.

Maybe Kimbo will get another shot. Roy (Dickydo) Nelson didn't impress me much. I actually thought Kimbo might have him for a min. He got reckless and got taken down again. Oh well. Should be interesting to see the rest.
*Triggahappy13*
I thought Roy fought terribly, He hardly threw a punch while standing ( He did take some shots pretty nicely though) But then just took him down and used his weight against him. I'd hardly call that an "Ultimate Fighter"
Robert
Definitely the worse season of TUF so far. Both the show and the fights have been boring.

While TUF has totally sucked, lots of great fights coming up.

Oct. 10th
Cerrone vs. Ben Henderson for the WEC interim title. Should be a good fight, especially since it's free on the versus channel.

Oct 25th
Lyoto Machida Vs. Mauricio Rua
I'm dying to see this fight, very curious to see which Rua shows up. The pride gran prix winner or the guy who gave up and got choked out by Forrest. If the old Rua shows up it should be a good fight
Decent card overall
Velasquez Vs. Rothwell
Tibau Vs. Neer
Joe Stevenson Vs. Spencer Fisher <<<--- really like this fight
Anthony Johnson Vs. Yoshida

Nov 14th
The main card is a snooze
Randy Couture Vs. Brandon Vera
Sucks when the main event isn't a title fight. Hell this fight doesn't even count because it doesn't impact who gets the next title shot.
I am looking forward to seeing all the old TUF guys fight
Mike Swick Vs. Dan Hardy
Michael Bisping Vs. Denis Kang <<<---- Geno's going to pay just to watch Bisping
James Wilks Vs. Matt Brown
Ross Pearson Vs. Aaron Riley
Nick Osipczak Vs. Matthew Riddle
Andre Winner Vs. Rolando Delgado

Nov 21th
Brock Lesnar Vs. Shane Carwin <<<--- could care less
Tito Ortiz Vs. Forrest Griffin <<<--- looking forward to this one, will definitely be better than the earlier planned matchup between Tito and Coleman. Forrest probably will never been anything but a gatekeeper for the division but I still like the guy. Here is a great example of why. He took a lot of flack over running out after the Silva fight.
Forrest recently did his 1st big interview since that fight. The reported asked Forrest why he ran back to the dressing room after the fight. How did Forrest reply? " I ran back to the dressing rooms because I heard your mom was giving free blowjobs"
LMAO
Jon Fitch Vs. Ricardo Almeida < Fitch always puts on a good fight
Karo Parisyan Vs. Dustin Hazelett < While I think Karo is a bitch, it's always interesting to watch him use his Judo
Amir Sadollah Vs. Phil Baroni << Praying Amir pulls out a win after the early stoppage in his last fight

Not to mention the big one Nov 9th
Fedor vs. Rogers <<<----- yea baby

no responses ?? he got robbed!!!
Robert
104 was great.
At the end of the fight I was leaning towards Rua too. While I'm a huge Machida fan I would have been fine with Rua winning. The guy was amazing in Pride, glad to see him back in top form because the UFC LHW division needs more new blood like him. I for one don't buy into all the internet hype about how Rua was robbed. It could have easily went either way. After watching the fight a second time I can see why 2 judges gave Machida the 1st 3 rounds, don't have a clue why the other judge gave him round 1,2 and 4. The 4th was clearly won by Rua. So by my scoring it would still have been a split decision for Machida. Now I'm sure I won't change anyone's mind but here is the reasoning behind my opinion.
I think the commentary unfairly favored the fight towards Rua.
People are mistakenly scoring the fight as a whole an not 5 individual rounds.
Not enough credit is given to Machia's strikes during the earlier rounds which several times resulted in Rua trying to take him down.
All Rua's attempts at takedowns were stuffed, he doesn't lose points for these but it scores points for Machida ( octagon control ).
Very little credit was giving to the well timed knees Machida delivered every time Rua tried to rush him.
Ultimately I could see this going either way but it certainly wasn't a clear victory for Rua. I'm looking forward to the rematch.
Sadly something else which may have been a factor is the unspoken reasoning some judges use, where the belt doesn't change hands unless it's a clear victory. Fighters know they take a chance when they leave a fight in the judges hands. Rua himself said said he could have done better in the later rounds but didn't risk it because his corner told him he was winning.

Bad stoppage in the Velasquez vs. Rothwell fight even though it looked like a clear victory for Cain.

I'm a fan of Joe Stevenson so it was good to see him show up ready to fight. There for a while he was turning into a gate keeper.

Great card overall, Hell of a lot better than the next two main cards.
105 Randy Couture Vs. Brandon Vera , I like Couture but give me a break he lost his last two fights, this is not a main card event
106 ORTIZ vs GRIFFIN, Should be a good fight but it's not worth of a main event.

Sadly TUF is still sucking ass. I want to like Ramapge but he is without a doubt the worse coach EVER. Then to top if off, he's talking shit now against the UFC. He's showing his ass now talking shit about how fucked up the UFC is after the 104 event. Total freaking hypocrite, one of the more talked about bad decisions was between Rampage and Rua's brother Murilo in Pride. Rampage defedning the win even though everyone else said he should have lost.

In the first 2 rounds it looked more like Machidas strikes were being blocked and countered quickly ,the guy could barely walk out of there let alone put his belt on over his swelled mid section.i just think Rua landed more of the punches. The only thing negative Rua did was lay down in the 5th,thinking he had it in the bag.

Oh my god, I am so disgusted with the TUF fights. All these guys enter the octagon with their gas tank already on Empty. Normally you see several TUF losers get signed by the UFC, I doubt any of these guys get a contract.
It only shows how much they tried to stack the show to make it easy as they could for Kimbo. I've been to a few tough-man contest which amount to little more than unskilled drunks slugging it out but was still better than the most TUF fights this season. I laughed out load when the camera cut to Dana saying "Now that was a good fucking fight" Was he watching another fight on his phone?
Little skill an zero conditioning do not make for a good fight.

At least the people trying out for TUF 11 look like they have some skill

i agree with you %100 .i have it on in my bar with no sound every week and none of the fighters Ive seen would last one round in any weight class in The UFC.a bunch of fat guys with no gas.
Robert
Sadly no quick rematch. Machida had surgery on his had surgery on his hand to remove some bone spurs.
Looks like 4-5 months for the earliest rematch.

I think that the Lesnar fight was canceled so that he could be put on the Jan 2 card. All of the champs are injured or scheduled to fight between now and then. I was looking at the 175lb division and there is nobody left for GSP. I couldn't come up with a single compeling match up from the fighters they have listed on the UFC website. I'm sort of interested to see the BJ Penn vs Diego Sanchez fight. That should be a good one. I think Mir is fighting Congo in that one too. Along with Florian vs. Guida. I love watching Guida fight. That dude never stops. IMO he should still be hunting for his head somewhere in Nebraska after that head kick Diego put on him. That was the sickest shot I've ever seen anyone take and get up.

I want to see the Matt Hamil vs Jon Jones fight too. Jones is raw but he has the potential to be very very good. He beat Stephan Bonar pretty easily. Hamil should be another good test.
*Triggahappy13*
I hope Big country gets his ass kicked, This guy for some reason thinks his shit don't smell. That doesn't belong in the UFC

Jon Jones is going to be a handful. Once again Steve Mazzagatti doesn't deserve to watch MMA, yet alone ref it. He let Matt Hamil take way too much punishment which ended up causing Jones to be disqualified. If I were fighting I would ask the commission to assign me a ref other than Mazzagatti due to fear for my own safety. That dude is a joke.
Robert
I agreed with Mazzagatti for a while, even when Jones keep glancing up. Hamil was taking damage but he was still attempting to defend and most of the blows were missing or glancing off.
There was a lot of complaints after the fight about the disqualification being unfair but that's the rules. There are no warnings on intentional fouls / illegal strikes. If Hammill could have continued, it may have only been a point deduction. Since he couldn't continue, it becomes a straight disqualification. If you listen close, Mazz called for the point deduction, he didn't plan on stopping the fight but had no choice when Hammill was unable to continue. I don't like Mazz but ultimately Jones screwed himself, he knew it to by the way he looked up as soon as he threw the down strike elbow. I don't know why Jones did it because I'm sure he doesn't train using that straight down elbow.
Personally I wish the UFC would incorporate the rules strikeforce uses, no elbows to a downed opponent.
The main reason people throw those elbows is the chance of cutting the other fighter. To me it's cheap.
I don't think the win/loss because of the disqualification is going to hurt Jones one bit. Regardless of how this fight ended, Jones moves up and Hammil down in the standings.

Really sucked not seeing Rampage/Evans but enjoyed the event overall.
Sorry to see Marcus lose, he's probably done. I was amazed at Houston Alexander running from Kimbo the whole fight. Glad to see Kimbo get the win, I wonder how long he'll stick around if at all.

Still goes down as the worse season of the show EVER.

I'm looking forward to Chuck/Tito next season. Tito was a great fighter but he's such a bitch. I can't believe he's complaining about losing the decision to Forrest. They were both 1/1 going into the 3rd round, where Tito did zero to win the fight. In my opinion, that last round could easily of been 10-8 for Forrest. I was surprised it was a split decision, clear victory in my book.

I'd love to see John Jones beat upon that bleached out melon head that rests on Ortiz's shoulders. Ortiz was a bitch, has been a bitch, is a bitch, and will always be a bitch. Let him and Rashad fight. Then Either way a disrespectful bitch get's knocked out and I'm happy.

Or even better let Anderson Silvia fight both those crying douche bags at the same time. Or in the same night. Now that's a show begging to be seen.
Robert
I think there are several signs pointing to major problems at the UFC right now.
* Strikeforce sings Fedor and Hendo while the UFC fails to bring in new big name talent.
* Several horrible events lately, top of the list is the Couture/Vera fight. Their big name draws are not getting it done. Need more proof just look at UFC 109, the headline is Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman. In what world is that a maincard fight? Sure everyone loves Couture but he's only won 1 fight in 2 years ( Vera ) where he looked horrible. Then there is Coleman, who has lost 50% of his fights in the last 8 years. His only recent win was against Bonnar. I like Bonnar but he's not even a top 10 fighter, if he was anyone else he would have already been cut. Dana is trying to sell UFC 109 as a great fight between two Hall of Famers. Sure there was a time when they were great fighters but how many more times are they going to be dragged out to hide the void of new developed fighters?
* Dana makes his big announcement about who the coaches will be for TUF 11 Lidell/Ortiz. No one cares because we've already seen them before. Why didn't they takes this opportunity to showcase new talent instead of two people on their way out?
Genocide Junkie
I don't think you can count the loss of Hendo as being a big issue for the UFC. Yes he's a great fighter but he's a horrible draw. Nobody buys a pay per view to watch him fight. The reason it seems so bad right now is that you have champions who have cleared out divisions and/or they are hurt. I'm looking forward to the card this weekend. I don't think things are as exciting as they were at one time but things come in waves. They will come up with a super fight we all want to see soon enough.
Robert
I think there are a lot of people who wanted to see how far Hendo could go. Your right about him personally not being a big draw. I think the majority of UFC fans are completely clueless about other MMA orgs. Hendo was basically the last big name from Prides's glory days. I really wanted to see him fight Anderson again, as he was probably the best match for him.
It's like you said, the champs have cleared out their divisions which is great but the problem is the lack of new up and coming talent. A great example of what I think the UFC is lacking is exactly what recently happened in the WEC.
For the longest time Faber was the undisputed king of the featherweight division. He was only 2 fights away from clearing the whole division but them lost 2 time in a row to the new King, Brown. Now suddenly there is an almost unknown who comes in a easily beats Brown like it's nothing. The Brown/Aldo fight was great, Aldo completely dominated Brown, not by skill or Power but sheer unmatched violence. Aldo who is only 23 now has 6 knockouts in a row and easily walked thru Brown, who many thought would be top dog for a long time.
The UFC needs something like that to get people's interest up, I just don't see it happening. Most of the recent UFC main cards fights have been overshadowed by undercard or pre-lim fights.
*Triggahappy13*
just saw some highlights from the fights on the new season. In the fights to get into the house Mr. Mazzagatti looks like he let someone else almost bleed out again. Blood was literally pouring from his face and these even showed clips of Dana glancing back up at him to see what he was going to do. Pretty sure if i was covered in that much of someone elses blood I would stop from fear of getting some disease or shit.

Looks like this season is more promising that last for sure
Robert
I'm so glad to see actually fighters on the show this season compared to last. Looking forward to some great fights.
As big of a bitch Tito is, I would have to say he's probably one of the better coaches I've seen.

Can't wait to see UFC 112, it's been a great two months for MMA fans between the UFC & WEC events.

Did you see where Dana said he was going to cut Anderson Silva if he pulled that showboating no fighting shit again? I expect someone to get hurt badly in his next fight. I think he's just plain bored. Maybe they should put him in there with two fighters he can embarrass next time. Maybe they need weapons.
*Triggahappy13*
Silva has damn near every advantage he can have without considering training and all that. His reach, height, and flexibility give him every advantage on the ground. Combine that with the fact that hes so f**king smart when if comes to fighting, it's hardly a fight anytime he steps into the ring.

At some point he's going to get caught and it will make him realize he can't play around in the ring. Or Dana will just boot him because hes lost a lot of his appeal now.

I just can't wait for Lesnar to get back int he ring.
