i use just a basic microsoft optical mouse and I do use a mouse pad because I've found my mouse responds better to it than my desk

I use the exact mouse that Real has shown and it kicks arse! I think the pad helps. It causes for a smooth transition from facing forward to spinning around to shoot Deuce's ass when he is trying to bash me.

i use an optical mouse, but every once in a while it jumps to the corner of the screen. It actually does this fairly often. It has only gotten me killed a couple of times, but it's still really annoying.
I don't use a mousepad. I have one, but there isn't enough room on my desk. I have maybe a 4 inch square to move my mouse in.
JP
if you get an optical mouse, make sure its a quality one. some if the "cheaper" brand optical mice, dont scan fast enought and when you move the mouse too fast it fucks up.

Oh yea and I have a Microsoft Intelimouse Optical 3.0

I may try that. I have got the same MX 510 mouse. I like it but its burgundy in color, and my sytem I built is blue. When I pruchased it , it was the only color they had. Now they have one the same color as my system. Anybody want to trade a burgundy for a blue one?

Ill buy you the mouse if you trade me your wireless.

I use the logitech mx700 wireless mouse and keyboard combo along with a 3M Precise mousing surface, they work wonderfully. I used to have a microsoft optical and it f'd up all the time, it would always switch weapons on it's own.

This is actually a setting that can be changed. There is an option in your mouse settings that is set to have your mouse initialize at the same spot. The setting is supposed to help you find your pointer. You can disable it...Look under mouse settings. The setting is called "snap to". You most likely have it enabled.

To be honest with you I hated that MX 700 wireless. It was real hard to play mohaa and I got rid of it for $30 dollars on ebay. I wish I knew you wanted it cause I could have saved you some money. It seemed to be overly sensitive, and made the game play very difficult.

also, just a thought, but if your mouse is jumping around, check to see if it needs cleaning.

Cleaning an Optical Mouse

An optical mouse has no ball. Instead, it uses an infrared sensor to track movements over a surface. It be used directly on a desktop and does not need a mouse pad.

To clean an optical mouse:

1. Use a pair of tweezers to pull out debris and build-up in the optical mouse's eyehole. Just a strand of hair can cause problems with a mouse's LED sensor.

an optical mouse that gunked up would barely, if at all, work let alone snapping to the same location in the corner of the screen. It would behave eratically, not methodically

I use a Microsoft Optical 2.0 and it's pretty good..... sometimes it does change weapons for me.... like I'll be coming up on someone and then like it'll switch to pistol... also, do you people play with wrist up? or do you have your wrist lying down on a surface when you play?...... Glad this thread didn't turn into some pointless babble...... dry.gif unsure.gif

I have had a number of optical mice and I think they all work pretty well depeding upon how comfortable one is with the button configuration. Meaning the placement of the buttons on a five button mouse, both sides or one side. I have used many different types of mouse pads with the optical mice from cloth, to the 3M precise mouse surfaces. By far the best mouse pad i have encountered is from Func Industries, this pad solved all my mouse pad problems instantly. Their products can be found at www.func.net. Hope it helps.
