Hey MOB and Regs..... I haven't been playing a lot of MOHAA lately because it runs wicked slow because of spyware and adware on my computer. I've tried getting Spysweeper and stuff but I need a permanent solution. The spyware even changes my homepage and shit like that. It's probably the most aggrevating thing ever.... Does anyone have any suggestions of a great program? Or I even heard that you can fraud your IP or something and that will do the trick, but I don't know if that's an idiot's idea or even illegal. Any Suggestions are greatly appreciated

Hey Nicky try useing spybot search & destroy works good for me

its not known as frauding your ip, its know as spoofing it. You can do so by downloading some programs at www.cracks.st , when you get there just type in ip address and look through the list. Oh and it is llegal alot of people do it.

hey man stay far away from that site, sorry i told you about it. Its full of hacvks that will screw you up. I went to the site a downloaded the spoofer, when i installed it i was getting an endless amount of popups, it wouldn't stop. I then went to ad and remove and alot of shit was installed on my pc, it almost crashed cuz of it. So do not i repeat do not go to www.cracks.st. ty

Nicky, the best program that I found is called Adaware. They have a free version you can try. I liked it so much I actually paid for the upgrade. You can check it out here:

I use Adaware first, then Spybot search and destroy. I find the combo to get rid of just about everything. They are both free, which I'm not sure if anyone pointed out since I really just scanned this post. But definately use Adaware, but try out Spybot after.

UGH! Why isn't this spyware crap illegal! It's so unfair how they take over your computer like that!

P.S. The lavasoft program works really good but somethings still remain, I'm going to try Bargod's theory

tucows.com and search "Spybot" it will come up and after you dowload and install make sure to go into settings and update then check system and select all and remove. Don't worry it only removes spyware,then goto recovery and clear that list also

I use Adaware also, it works great. Just make sure to keep it updated.

Nicky, the adware/spyware problem is indeed awful. Everyone has given you good advice so far but you need to know that some spyware programs have "ticklers" that reinstall after another program deletes them. The one that comes to mind is CoolWebSearch. There are others although I do not know them all.

It depends on your operating system, but there are several ways to determine what is running on your system. If your homepage keeps changing after a sweep then make note of the page it sends you to and Google for it. Usually others have had the same problem and also have a solution. Please use common sense and do not reformat unless there is no other choice. (Does happen.)

Personally, I use a four step approach:
1.) Use Mozilla FireFox as a browser. It does not let pop-ups and things of that nature through. You may lose some functionality but I think it is worth it.

2.) Get SpyBot, Adaware, and Spy Sweeper. Run them each in turn. Only the unregistered version of Spy Sweeper stays active.

3.) Get a good anti-virus program. I would recommend AVG Free Edition by Grisoft. It is quite effective. (Your computer may be running slow because of trojans and/or viruses.)

4.) Use common sense when web surfing and never download anything you are not sure about.

I am by no means an expert, but the advice I have given you is sound and has worked for me in the past. I hope this helps and good luck.

I've had trouble with that damn CoolWebSearch. How do you get rid of that once and for all?

Nicky, when you install stuff, you know that big huge thing everyone clicks yes to. You know the agreement. All the spyware stuff is listed in all those words, so infact they cant be sued or anything cuz its in writing.

These programs listed above work great, I have another for you to try.

Try out PestPatrol, along with the other to programs listed it should clear all the spyware off your computer.

Barg0d, the removal tool you are looking for is called CWShredder. I have used it once for a computer at work and it does an effective job at killing CoolWebSearch.
