I have a question. My girlfriend (NecroKitty) and I have been using the MOB servers for several months with both of us on a cable modem and getting pings in the 40's - 50's. In the last week or two we noticed that the first of us to get on one of the MOB servers had a ping of 80 - 100 and the second of us would have a ping 80 - 100 higher. This would innevitably result in one of us getting kicked. Can you shed any light on this? Any idea why we would have suddenly started to get pings that were so high? This hasn't happend on other sites that we frequent, that's why we noticed it specifically with the MOB servers.

I would like to say that we have both really enjoyed playing on the MOB servers. Your clan is very friendly and profesional. We've had a lot of bad experiences with arrogant trash talking kiddie clans so it's a treat to play on a good server with good players who can kick ass without getting self-righteous about it. Particular kudo's go out to Cypher, Pvt. Ryan and Little Old Man...we've played against them a lot and they really do make your clan look good.

I'm not sure what's going on. I have also been getting some lag lately on server #1...my lag seems to have started in the same time frame as yours, but I have no idea why. Maybe Druid will have some answers for us...till then hold tight, I'm sure the problem will be straightned out soon.

I too am lagging really bad. This started last night.

I have been on several times today and at times gameplay will stop for 1-2 sec. then resume. After which you have no idea where you are or why you are dead. It is really terrible to play. I would like to inquire if obtaining a bigger pipe is feasible. I would definately pay more for a fatter pipe. The gameplay is just not fun. I would appreciate any information or fix for this problem. Thanks.

with some of the newer guys we have, and the rest who contributed last time I think it may be worth a shot, if Druid thinks it's a good idea that is. I am more than willing to pay my share.

If bandwidth was the problem it would of been a problem all along.
Most likely its network related. ILAN is woking on moving off of their curent network which is handled by WorldCom. Since the WorldCom meltdown problem on the network don't get fixed as quick as they should.
I would guess 90% of the time people have problems they are network related. A perfect example is today on MOB #3, half the people had pings over 250 while everyone else had a normal ping.

The problems should clear up. If they don't please let me know.

Thanks Druid, I do hope it's just a passing thing. The MOB servers are a particular favorite of mine and I'd prefer to get my ass shot off cause someone is a better player than to get it shot off cause I'm laging.

When NecroKitty and I would both get on, the first on would always have a lower ping (maybe 20-30%) and at 30-40 that would only be a difference of 6-12 so nothing really noticable. Do you thnk that since the problems with Worldcom and the network are causing higher pings that that would make the percentage difference between myself and Kitty more dramatic? eg. 30% of 150 = 45 gives a second ping rate of 195 which gets someone kicked. What do you think?

I think you would be surprised how much your pings can jump around while you play.
As far as going up to 195. This wouldn't get you kicked on MOB #1.
The ping limit on it is set for 200.

The latest update from ILAN is MOB#1 will be moved around the 22 - 25th of November.

i have also been experiencing lag quite frquently here in the past week or so. Sometimes it is beneficial, especially when i know i have the drop on a guy but am not quite ready to kill him. The lag gives me more time to prepare. Sad is it not?...LOL. Sometimes the lag would get so bad i would find my self traveling to the other side of the map and then jumping back to my original starting position. Well anyway thanks for clearing that up Druid.
