i would love to know how much memory you all are running and if it helps with the game and if its enough. i am running 256, thats pretty low i think since some mac's are comming with 1-2 gig (they are on the high side but nice systems. (hopefully the next mac i buy... biggrin.gif )

BTW im sick cough cough....thats what i told my boss....SUCKER!
Boog
If you buy a new mac...I swear flamethrowingsmiley.gif I am running 512. I think it is plenty. If you got 1 gig you would be set for years.
XYZ Factor
I agree with Sabo....512 should be plenty. Don't think you would notice much difference with more.

I have a gig.
NecroKitty
I currently have 512 but am upgrading to 1 gb for X-Mas....it's pretty cheap right now anyway and this new Vampire game I have could stand a little more of everything. laugh.gif

512? anyone think more is better?
XYZ Factor
"They can always be bigger"

That rule applys for more things than ram. wink.gif
Live
i have 2 sticks of Ram one is 256 pc2700 and the others is 512 pc2700.all in all 768.......the more ram you have the more appications and programs you can run on your computer..less ram you have the slower your computer will be ......more ram the faster your computer will load it also depends on how fast your processer is as well...i run an AMD 2600.........which run 1.97 Ghz

If you plan on playing the new games like doom and half life then 512 and up would be good, but if your staying with medal of honor and games of that time period just 512 should be fine. I have a gig and I would run everything good if I didn't have such a shitty vid card.
NecroKitty
What's your video card Saucy? I'm upgrading my GEForce 4 Ti4200 to a GeForce FX5950 V9980 Ultra-256MB in a couple of weeks so if your card is shittier than the Ti4200 (doubt it lol) I can send it to you.
|$aucy|
Well today I got a geforce fx 5200 (still crap) from my friend because he is getting rid of his old computer making room for his new alienware ( sad.gif ) . It replaces my geforce mx 440 just until the holidays when I am getting a new radeon I believe (haven't quite decided which one yet).
realdeal
1gb here.
gen.gomer-pyle
i run a gig of ddr
Stockguy
i run 512, but my recommendation silver to just save up and buy a pc!
Big P
1gig here also but going 2gig soon.
PISTOFFBAD
512 of duel DDR 3200 and a 2.8 gig Pent.4 with 800 fsb processer. When Longhorn comes out, it's min. system requirements will probably be 512 megs of memory. rolleyes.gif
GanGsta_XtyleZ
512 here. It's enough for MOH. But more is always better.
Bargod
This one go's to 11!
Silver
11? huh.gif

Please tell me that somebody gets it.
I don't mind that it's a bad joke, but if nobody gets it, well, that's just sad.
D-DayVetLarry
512 here. Works like a charm for MOHAA. But I have a shitty vid card just like Saucy, but I don't feel like upgrading.

i am going to make the jump right after christmas to 512. i was told that pricewatch was the place to go. they had memory for 20 bucks. that's cheap as i have see up to 200 at the apple web site and avg about 75. but i have to pull the plate off to make shure it is 168 pin. it probally is but if i dont check it will be like 3 pin or something apple made up.

can i put in like one 256 and one 512, for example? that wont harm anything will it?
NecroKitty
It really depends on your motherboard. If you have an older mobo you might not be able to, but if your mobo is DDR you should be fine. However, remember that your RAM will only go as fast as your slowest RAM chip (i.e. if you have 2700 RAM and 2100 RAM, it will run at 2100 speed, both chips).

If the slot is a different color it is almost always a different type of ram chip; your motherboard would only be able to use one type of ram chip at a time, so if you have 2 types of slots on there the motherboard will only use one type. If your mobo is compatible, make sure that the new stick(s) match(es) the first one/two you have. Just be sure to put the largest stick closest to the CPU.

Or in layman's terms, what mobo do you have? wink.gif

It's from "This Is Spinal Tap".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven

im looking at this again (ITS TIME!! HAHAHAHAHAHA) and trying like hell to comprehend what she said. i have 133 sdram i can mix 256+512 and be safe? how do you know how many pins i have or can use
Epacy
I am running with a Gig of Corsair XMS. Been running that for two years now.
PISTOFFBAD
If you are using SDRAM then there may be a compatibility issue. In other words just any RAM may not work. The best way to buy online and get SDRAM that will work is to get it from Crucial.com or Kingston.com where they will match the RAM to your specific computer. I made this mistake with Newegg, the ram was identical to what I had but it kept crashing the pc.
