Hi there,
I really enjoy playing CoD on your server and I'd like to start using Ventrilo. I've installed the Ventrilo client for Mac software but havent a clue how to set it up!
Can anyone help?
Ice_Cold
right now the mac version uses a different codec that we use. becaous it still is in beta phase. be for too long they will have a version that will work with both the pc and mac versions. the members that use macs for gaming have an old pc that they use for vent

Hi there Silver,

Nothing very flash I'm afraid. Just a PoweMac G4 with 1.25GB Ram. I've upgraded the graphics card to a ATI 9800 PRO MAC 256MB. I've just got myself some Sennheiser PC165 headphones and now thinking about some Aego M speakers.
The closest I have to anything PC is Virtual PC but theres no way of running games on that - far too slow!
What kind of set up so you have yourself?
Silver
Machine Model: eMac
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
Memory: 768 MB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz

ATI 7500 vid card

first mac and i love it!
I have the creative 3 piece set up, sub woofer rox! I dont have it all beefed up, just enough to make things work... what do you think of the switch to intel chips, and that older programs might ot work with the new chips?? do you use popcorn for burning videos/DVD?

One thing I see comming is that you will be able to buy a regular PC and be able to boot OSX with it. I think apple will get out of the PC hardware market (or atleast) loosen up control of it. Apple pretty much has a niche market with either Video editors (they will lose a good section of this market with the comming of dual core cpu's)and computer noobies (there are obviously some exceptions).. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out in the next couple of years.

scary.... rumor has it if apple lossens their reign on the osx operating system dell may pick it up.

You know I love my Mac too! -I've been using Macs for about the last 15 years.
With regard to the new chips I'm personally not too bothered as I dont have any immmediate plans to change my machine. I think if Apple fail to make sure that programs that currently run on Mac OSX work with the Intel chips it will cause a lot of anger in the Apple community. Equally it could open up a new kind of relationship with our PC friends - be that good or bad!?

With regard to Popcorn I have no knowledge of it. At the moment I don't have any need of DVD burning software as all my back-ups go to an external HD and anything else goes on to CD.

Just out of interest have you tried setting up Teamspeex for Mac. I've downloaded it but not had a chance to use it!
What time do you play CoD (UK time)? - I've not seen you Barbarossa!

Silver
i play on and off on barbarossa currently i have been playing tdm based servers, kida like it sometimes to get rid of barb... (too much barb in this house!!!) but I try and get on around noon est... but sometimes later like 6 est. (late in ur woods) I was thinking of the switch to a better machine but untill i hear word of a good transition to intel based chips... i will hold out.

Yep, it certainly will. I only hope that when Apple offers OSX to the PC market place, it doesn't forget its core users that have stuck beside them for many years!
