jsut a quick post on weapons strength.
I have found that some of the hend held artillery (bazooka, etc) give inconsistant results. I can sneak like a ninja up behind a heavy and blast it dead center in the back. not dead. but many times, it happens to me. is there some trick to this, or is i just a random thing. I was hit twice today by "death" and it was a one shot one kill situation. do i have to hit a corner or what.... thanks. Homer: Todd smells?, I already knew that! |

I feel quite sure I've been killed in the Russian heavy with one shot from behind several times. OTOH, I know I've aimed perfectly at the back of a heavy, shot, and not killed and wondered "WTF". Other times, I feel quite sure I shot a full health heavy in the back for a one shot kill. So, I get the impression it is either inconsistent, or the "sweet spot" is very very small.
In fact, I also had the impression that rockets striking from a longer distance hit harder than a short distance rocket. Is that my imagination? I remember once in a full health camoflage tanks and getting killed with a rocket with one shot even though I was pointing straight at the shooter meaning the shot came from directly in front where the armour is highest. (specifically, I was in tank behind German 2, and got shot from German spawn house...watched the shot all the way!) One occasion I've been killed in Grey German tank with one shot from the side, though I often shoot that tank from the side but one shot did not kill. Anyway, perhaps I'm wrong on the "distance" thing, but if so, there must be an explanation why sometimes bazooka shots from the side kill with one shot, even though they don't most times. Same for KV1 shots from behind. Anyone know these answers? MoD -------------------- ![]() |

I dont know about side armor for the grey panzer but I do know you can kill it with 2 shots to the front if you know where to aim. The mounted MG on top! When looking at it head on, just above the turret there's a grey bubble that a German would be in to use the MG. Thats a sweet spot. Two good hits and its done! -------------------- |

If this actually worked with ONE shot it would explain it, since of course if the turret was turned sideways that shot would be there from the "side". The other day, I got shot from almost the side but it did "graze" the back of my tank. BOOM! One shot kill. Someone said you had to shoot directly up the backside for one shots to work. Well, I say nope! Actually, I know I've gotten one shot kill with a shot from close to the side the caught the barely exposed backside of the tank. The sweet spot is thus just a smaller target from the bad angle. Personally, I almost get the impression that perhaps a shell right in the spot between the turrent and tank body might be a sweet spot. That's because while in a tank duel you usually know how many shots it takes to die, but occasionally the other guy seems to find a "sweet spot" that takes you armour down more than it should with the typical straight on, front-to-front battle exchanges. This is a good discussion, but surely there must be a place where we can reference the models of the tanks that show sweet spots. Almost seems like the most importnat thing to know, and no one quite seems sure! Anyway. MoD -------------------- ![]() |
