Ya, the wings just lost. Tough break for them but the Avs will have a better chance.

You should be banned! tongue.gif j/k

It should've gone into overtime, but apparently knocking down the puck with a high stick and kicking it into the net counts in the new NHL. Ref's should be fined for bad calls! angry2.gif

That game had too many non-calls on both sides. I'm so pissed. I was watching the first period and my girl said we needed to go out shopping for a bit (that'll be a different thread biggrin.gif ). I set Tivo to record the game, no prob. We get home an hour or so later and I get all the way up to Frazen scoring making it 3 - 2 Wings. Suddenly, 4 minutes to go, Wings are sailing to victory and my Tivo cuts to the Ducks/Flames game. WTF? I start freaking out. Basically Tivo records the station's set time for games so it missed the last 10ish minutes in which the Oilers score two goals. I'm pretty devastated, only cause I can imagine what Yzerman is going through right now. Most likely his last game. So bummed.

Wonder why they never pulled Legace in the series, he wasn't as hot as he was during the regular season. Side note: Hat nod to Rolison... I could see them riding him through the next series possibly. I've seen the Oilers do this before, they give 110% in the first round and burn out quickly. The Wings could've played stronger this entire series but I think they were pacing themselves for the long stretch. Oh well. I think this is solidifying chances for Colorado and San Jose for the Conference Finals unless Anaheim wins, then I think SJ and COL would play against each other in the next round which would be an awesome series.

Well now I don't feel as bad about the Stars getting beat, now that the other top western conference team is out. Although, it really sucks for both the wings and stars since they both had such great regular seasons.

Playoffs are always a new season, fresh slate. It's actually common for top seeds to get knocked off because they built up their record over a period of months and might not be in synch when they hit the post season. Most of the bottom seeds, 6-8, had been fighting for those positions over the past month and are usually pretty hot when they come into the playoffs. Just my opinion.

I think that makes a lot of sense. As far as the stars, their last few season games didn't matter one bit. They rested their star players (pardon the pun) and weren't playing at the top of their game going into the playoffs. On the other hand, based on the way they were playing in the regular season, i think they would have been able to take more games from Colorado; and probably the same for Detroit against Edmonton. But I think you're right, those lower seeded teams played like they had a sense of urgency and were ready to go.

Flames will take the West now.

My Pick: Flames v. Sabres

I want the Sharks to win though...

Cuz Osgood was or is injured. And the back up was Howard. A rookie who didnt play much in the regular season, And when he did play it wasnt impressive.

I would've tried Howard, but hindsight is always 20/20. Legace is probably out of Hockeytown now. He didn't face too many shots in the entire series and looked sloppy. Granted the Wings could've provided some better offense, but I still think all teams need to ride hot goalies into the playoffs and Legace wasn't at that caliber at the right time.
