I think it's not a hardware problem though since he said the other games are running fine- so presumably its a cod uo directory 'thingy'. Likely some remnants of his old cod uo somewhere getting reinstalled when he does his fresh install of cod. Perhaps Capt.Furrilo you can use your system search function [do you have windows] and then do a search for all the cod UO game files you see in your cod directory make a note if you find any files not in the current directory and later delete them if they show up after you uninstall UO again. Hellfighter is touching on an area that certainly needs addressing. Here's the plan: 1. Uninstall the game - ALL of it, Call of Duty and Call of DutyUO. 2. Reboot the computer 3. Go to Start, my computer, C drive, program files, call of duty folder and delete it. Close out of that. 4. Go to Start, run, and in the box type "regedit" without the quotes 5. Go to Hkey_local_machine, (click on the little box with the "+" sign and drop the menu down) 6. Go to Software, and click on the little box with the "+" sign on it 7. Go to Activision and if there is a box with a "+" on it click it as well. 8. When you see the folders "Call of Duty" and Call of Duty United Offensive, right click on each of them and select "delete". 9. Once you have deleted both files, exit out of there and reboot the computer. Do you have a cleaner program on your machine that gets rid of old file extensions etc? If you do not, the let me recommend one. Here it is. It is free and it works really well. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Once you install it, run it. It will have a menu and you will need to select run the "cleaner" and then run the "Issues" . This program will get rid of useless extensions that lead no where and cause computers to slow down and crash etc. Then Defrag your hard drive using Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk defrag. Then, re-install COD and its' update patch. Then install CODUO and its' update patch. After that reboot your computer and then try to connect to our servers and see what happens. You should be good to go! This post has been edited by )--S@B0T-->: 12/18/06 5:38pm |

Let us know how you make out with the fixes. As I am not Politically Correct, I always wish a Merry Christmas, as it is "Christ" that is the reason for the season, as they say. So, all the best to you and yours, Captain. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! |

Hellfighter, you are much too busy to be tied up with the small stuff so I thank you, sir, for allowing me to step in and jot down a plan to help our friend Furillo. I hope it works!
Merry Christmas to you and the very best the new year has to offer! |

Well happy new year to you all. Update is that Santa must have fixed PC. Came back from 10 days in NY and everything was working fine. The only thing I did was run Windows update and download 6 non critical patches, otherwise PC was as I left it before xmas ie knackered re COD. MOB must work in mysterious ways!
Thanks for all feedback and have a happy 2007. |
