MOB and MOHAA Options

People having been talking about MOHAA dying for over a year, for once I think their right. With ASE I've watched the number of servers and people playing dwindle over the last several months. When Pacific Assault comes out, no doubt there will be another large group of people leaving MOHAA. Although I'm sure some of the people who initially leave to play PA will end up coming back. There is just something about MOHAA, which appeals to people that other games have failed to recreate. I know for me part of what I liked so much in MOHAA is the player movements just felt right. The player physics will completely change with PA as it will be using a new game engine. To try and keep mohaa around for the people who want to continue playing, we are going to make a few changes.



Missionary & Cheating

Cheating has been without a doubt one of the biggest reasons why many people have quit playing MOHAA. Now with Missionary we have a working anti-cheat. The only problem is it still lacks the enough players who support it. Sometimes we can successfully switch Goodfellas to Missionary Only, other times it kills the server. So, for those of you who want to play in a missionary only server, we will be running one starting late next week. Once the CTF tournament is finished, we will be switching that server over to a 24/7 missionary only server. Now everyone on Goodfellas will have the choice between playing in a missionary optional server or playing in the missionary only server. For MAC players, once the server is up, you can email me to receive the required password.

The missionary only server will be setup to allow only people to join if they are using missionary or if in the case of MAC players have the password. Goodfellas will remain the same and be used as a way to advertise the new missionary only server.


MOB Regs Clan
Regs clan, what's that?

With the end goal of keeping Mohaa around for those who will continue to enjoy it. We have decided the best way to accomplish that goal is to try and organize the people who have made the MOB servers their home from anywhere from the last few months to the last year.

MOB as a group has discussed this and came up with a list of initial members. We will be contacting each person privately to see if they are interested and to ask for recommendations on how insure this will be fun for those involved.

To get an idea, here is a short list perks.
1) Inter-Clan scrimmages. I know several of you have enjoyed when we have
had scrimmages in the past. This will simply make it easier to set them up.
2) Organized scrimmages with players from other servers. I'm going to try
and setup a schedule of scrimmages with regulars from a few other servers.
3) Password access to Goodfellas, I will be switching a few slots from
public to private.
4) Private forum access as there will be some issues best dealt with privately.
5) Input on future members
6) The Regs clan may also be used as a trial period before MOB membership.

Once the initial members have been contacted and we see who wants to participate, the 1st order of business will be for you guys to decide on a tag. We'll help with a few suggestions or it may be something completely different that one of you suggest but the final say will come down to you.

A misconception I think many people have is clans only exist for ladder competition. If you look down the list of MOHAA servers, you'll see most of the more popular server are ran by clans strictly for people to have play and have fun. ( *RS*, MGX, Loki's, Mech, JFH ) This is what the regs clan will be about.


There are lots of little details to work out, many of which we can't start with until we know if this idea will be supported and by how many people.
During these 1st few days while we work to make this idea a reality. We would appreciate any feedback you would like to offer.
What would you think would be the pros and cons?
Is this even do-able and if so, so you think it would be worth it?

I agree with you 100% Druid! PA will have its 15 mins of fame but most off the peeps will come back to MOHAA! The Regs Clan is an exallent ideal i think over half of the regs want in MOB and it will be a good way the show thier loyalty to the MOB clan and liek you said it is a good way the try peeps b4 MOB membership.

WOW!!! This is very forward thinking and I am impressed. In general I like what I am hearing, but I have one suggestion. Now, I realize I am still fairly new to the MOB site family, but I think Goodfellas should go all Miss. I say give fair warning to a new non-miss site, but I think the majority of Goodfellas regulars (term used loosely) would prefer a Miss only site. I think there is probably enough people who would still frequent the site if you went Miss only. I think many, my self included, will often see there aren't any MOB members on and just pass up getting on, because we know Goodfellas is not tolerant of cheating, but if there is no MOB then cheating can become rampent.
I guess what I'm trying to say is this... MOHAA players from many clans (missionary players mostly) love to play on Goodfellas. The big turn-off is when nobody is there to kick hackers. Please let Goodfellas be the Missionary only site. I think it will thrive! If you want to bring a new server online to spread the name of MOB, let it be the non-Miss site.

goodfellas is and established server that people remember to come to.
goodfellas will be the server to bring all MOHAA players into the MOB servers as it has been for a long time.
once in, players may feel the need to get a copy of missionary and head on over to the missionary only server that MOB provides.

after time, the missionary only server may be the place to see who is who, but for now, goodfellas is still the place to be.

I like the idea Druid. It will make people feel that they belong and a good way to get to know people better.I myself dont gab much in the forums and for me if I was asked to be a part of this would love it.The organized competition would really be alot of fun! I play on Goodfellas religiously and feel like nobody.Im sure alot of guys feel that way too.Or maybe I feel that way cause Im not too good.Oh well enough rambling.I think its great. I agree with you druid, but some of the more trusted members that become mob regs, should be givin admin rights so they can help police the server when there are no mob members around. Again just a suggestion.

yes yes, this is some serious shit. i am so confused. but i trust that druid will get this goin and hopefully PA isnt going to be the greatest game n that people stick with MOHAA. but isnt the RS clan one of those servers with the mods, where u can jump like 100 Ft. in the air n be invisable n shit? i dont get....

i have to say that this is a great idea this is goning to be great, one thing though...with all the hard work that goes in to all this will MOB change according to the times? like will mob be putting in a pacific assult thingy? and if and when that dies will mob as a whole move on? i prob will play mohaa as long as humanly possible (till noone else plays...but as a whole/clan/regs/members we can slowly change together. am i out of line? i love mohaa but i feel i sort of belong to this social club that plays together and as times change mob needs to stay alive. through mohaa and what ever happens next. it would suck to see MOB end at this game. along with the other great clans... i encourage others thoughts into this and i think druid will cry when he see's this knowing if it happens a year or two down the line if he (computer master) had to work with another game...
