trucking industry is on its last legs...
insurance is (has) skyrocketed and because of 9-11 terrorism ins is (new) and is high. TSA (transportation saftey authority) has fines of 25000 dollers for leaving your doors unlocked (even while driving). how many companies can afford that fine... (applies to any trucking company that deals in air freight. gas going up and biodiesel (what nova said but done by a company) is still in its infancy. and maintence being high (oil for trucks uses ALOT more then a few qts. people are going to pay through the nose for product, everything is shipped by truck at some point.(EVERYTHING!!!) so the higher bill gets sent to the consumer, who in return can buy less shit. meaning less shit being shipped, prices still goes up... (see a cycle here) owner operators make less money and move on to other things (selling dope, robbing banks <j/k>) trucking industry slowly grinds to a halt. economy starts to collapse and shit hits the fan. we become a third world country. this is in the post on the war on terror were I call OPEC an economic terrorist.... (which it is) if I cant find local work I have to go over the road, which means I leave my family for extended periods of time, ending my gaming career (lol) |

this is how our costs are made up
this was done when we were paying 75 cents a liter, not that we are paying 1.299, the government is getting about 55 cents a liter in tax This post has been edited by nova: 09/01/05 6:19pm |

i agree with ambience... it's a fuckin scam. so what if a few oil refineries are out for a few days... people act like a hurricane has NEVER hit the gulf before... they do almost every year... yet they decide to use the destruction of new orleans and the deaths of countless people as an excuse to jack up oil prices just so they can make more money off of it... and even after the refineries are opened up, they're not going to take oil prices down because they're making money off of high oil prices! they're going to tell us some bullshit like the refieneries being knocked out brought us into an oil shortage and they're going to keep prices as high as they can for as long as they can, because they PROFIT off of high oil prices. i honestly don't think oil is ever going to come below 3 a gallon for me ever again... reports from this afternoon tell me that the gas stations around me are 3.25 a gallon, but that was about 6 hours ago, so i dont know what they are now. and whoever said oil prices werent bellow a dollar since 89, i dont know WHERE THE FUCK u live... but in northern jersey where i used to live, about 5-6 years ago, gas range was .89-1.06, but most of the stations were .96-.99 god i miss those days. oil has tripled in the past 5 years...

dipping into our oil reserves wont do shot for the price of gas. do the math- we are looking at about 3 months of reserves and that only lowers the price of gas by a penny- 2 tops.
In all actuality high prices are good for a nation- in the 70s they started making efficient cars, to combat high gas prices- and now we are getting what, 6 miles a gallon for those hummers? -------------------- ![]() ![]() |
