in canada we pay by the litre not gallon
4.55 liters in a gallon (canadian gallon- i think it is the same as usa gallon)
1.299a liter x 4.55=5.91
5.91 x 20% (exchange rate- cdn into us money)= 7.09 usd a gallon
oh and thank you

canada supplies the usa with about 10% of your daily usage of your oil/gas, we can do more if need be, i am sure we could supply both canada and the usa with more than enough gas
also the usa has a LARGE oild reserve, they will take from that first and make even more money of of you

LOL!
two things
people say "we should just drill in alaska"
well, we can use up all the available oil in alaska, does anyone know how much it will supply us with?
three months of usage
The u.s. is releasing some reserves- but its just a mental thing, as its not changing price or anything- we are the largest consumer of oil on the planet.
venezuala provides us with 30% of our oil
maybe we shouldn't have people talking of assassinating chavez.

I agree, thats the argument i had with the wife. It goes: if there's no trucks to bring them gas (gas stations) & there not paying for new gas at a higher rate than how can the gas that they had already bought a week ago er W/E be skyrocketing? I call it price gauging. Oh and last time i saw it under a dollar it was 89'

hmm, I was just a kid in the 70's i was not aware that people payed $3-3.50 for gas then. Was that regular or un-leaded? I have noticed around here, diesel is still under $3. 2.60 something. Why isnt that going up?
If you factor in the cost of inflation they were paying more in the 70s.
There's no reason to worry about diesel going up. It can be made, and most modern diesel engines are made to run with either type. If it won't run with the new type, there are a few steps you can take to make sure it will, and it doesn't cost much either.
Ok that makes sence. I was guessing minimum wage was around $1.50 to $2, so i just couldnt see them paying $3 dollars a gallon back then. But then again i was just a kid & didnt really pay attention to the economy.

may i add that diesels can now be run off of old fryer grease, you need to filter it and do other things to it( not sure what though). the best thing is you can get it free by just going to a few restruants and asking them for it, they dont have to pay to get rid of it if you take it

i remember in the late 70's in high school of people waiting in real long lines for hours to get gas. then they would only let you have a few gallons at a time.

just think if you owned a gas station.
you get your tanks filled today for 2.65 a gallon, tomorrow the gas companies raise the gas to $2.85, you sell your 10000 gallons of gas for 2.65= $26500, you run out and the next shipment you get in is #2.85 a gallon= $28500. right there is why they have to put it up, they would loose money.

damn, tuesday i paid 2.51 and today i filled up and paid 2.79. then about 4 hours later the same station jumped up to 2.85. most stations near my house are at 2.99. its pure BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its now about 75.00 to fill my damn truck up
trucking industry is on its last legs...
insurance is (has) skyrocketed and because of 9-11 terrorism ins is (new) and is high. TSA (transportation saftey authority) has fines of 25000 dollers for leaving your doors unlocked (even while driving). how many companies can afford that fine... (applies to any trucking company that deals in air freight. gas going up and biodiesel (what nova said but done by a company) is still in its infancy. and maintence being high (oil for trucks uses ALOT more then a few qts.
people are going to pay through the nose for product, everything is shipped by truck at some point.(EVERYTHING!!!) so the higher bill gets sent to the consumer, who in return can buy less shit. meaning less shit being shipped, prices still goes up... (see a cycle here) owner operators make less money and move on to other things (selling dope, robbing banks <j/k>) trucking industry slowly grinds to a halt. economy starts to collapse and shit hits the fan. we become a third world country.
this is in the post on the war on terror were I call OPEC an economic terrorist.... (which it is)
if I cant find local work I have to go over the road, which means I leave my family for extended periods of time, ending my gaming career (lol)
just put gas in 20.05 got me 6.34 gal that 3.15 a gal
Man i sure am glad i dont drive yet!
Gas here is like 2.99.
I hear that the storm took out a few off shore oil rigs and soon to be back in buiness.
But i hear Bush is thinking about going into out reserve!
this is how our costs are made upthis was done when we were paying 75 cents a liter, not that we are paying 1.299, the government is getting about 55 cents a liter in tax
LMAO!!! now there's an idea (the first one)

i agree with ambience... it's a fuckin scam. so what if a few oil refineries are out for a few days... people act like a hurricane has NEVER hit the gulf before... they do almost every year... yet they decide to use the destruction of new orleans and the deaths of countless people as an excuse to jack up oil prices just so they can make more money off of it... and even after the refineries are opened up, they're not going to take oil prices down because they're making money off of high oil prices! they're going to tell us some bullshit like the refieneries being knocked out brought us into an oil shortage and they're going to keep prices as high as they can for as long as they can, because they PROFIT off of high oil prices. i honestly don't think oil is ever going to come below 3 a gallon for me ever again... reports from this afternoon tell me that the gas stations around me are 3.25 a gallon, but that was about 6 hours ago, so i dont know what they are now. and whoever said oil prices werent bellow a dollar since 89, i dont know WHERE THE FUCK u live... but in northern jersey where i used to live, about 5-6 years ago, gas range was .89-1.06, but most of the stations were .96-.99 god i miss those days. oil has tripled in the past 5 years...

dipping into our oil reserves wont do shot for the price of gas. do the math- we are looking at about 3 months of reserves and that only lowers the price of gas by a penny- 2 tops.
In all actuality high prices are good for a nation- in the 70s they started making efficient cars, to combat high gas prices- and now we are getting what, 6 miles a gallon for those hummers?
