Personally, I liked it better the other way... if you want classic barb, make it classic barb, but you will lose your stats...

I liked themodern mod 1.0, just the way it was and I think the numbers will prove it out... poor Steel, you will never make everyone happy, but the proof is in the pudding.... I believe the stats will prove that the public liked the 1.0 modern weapons... the only thing I would change is make the noobinoff auto only... I have died many times due to accidentally hitting the fire key and unexpectedly went into single shot...

Otherwise you created a real winner.... it was full all the time... I have been on with 2.0 and not many people on it other than MOB people....

I will be interested in seeing if the public stats hold up with 2.0...

Either way, I personally want to thank you Jan for all the hard work you have put into this project.... It truly is a wonder.....JOE

Yea, but how is the traffic in the server with the changes. I think we had many discussions on this topic before. My point before is actually being proven now. People like the Noobanov, People like the RPG's. The proof is in the pudding.

Yes for some of us the serious gamers, we may not like some of the unreal parts of the mod. But the decision is basically, do we want traffic? or do we want to have servers that have very little traffic but the hard core gamers like to stop by occassionally to play.

I would love to play old barb with actual hard core gamers in scrims with other clans, but when its for our public server, I enjoy playing with a full server, even if it is using a gun that a noob can own me with. I will sacrifice my stats for the fun. I really think it would be much better if allot of the old timers played the 1.0 mod like we used to play old barb and actually use tactics. Actually take the time to explain to the noobs what they are doing wrong. It will catch on and others will actually play with good tactics and there will not be as many stale mates.

My thoughts anyways.

Traffic hasn't changed. The MW weapons BAS server is still full. Barb 24/7 server is still mostly empty, but the change was only 5 days ago or so.

Some might be willing to try Barb MW 2.0 after having given the new maps on the MW BAS server a try. We should wait and see.

I know where you guys are coming from with your points. You all just took me wrong and acted like I was way off. But actually, when the new MOD came up, the traffic on that server went nuts from the start. Earlier today I looked at the servers when I made my previous post and both the TDM and BAS servers had at least 15 people in each, and the Barb server had 0. Now I am looking at all 3 again and see that both the TDM and BAS have 20 and 27 in it while Barb has 0.

My point with all of this is not which is better gameplay for us the experienced players who love playing a team effort game. My point with all of my posts on this topic is that if we had made the changes, the traffic would die down in our servers. And the loyal MOB players and few other followers would come in the servers only at certain times of the day and a 8 vs. 8 would be considered a big game.

So again, which is better? Less in our servers, but better team effort play, or more in the servers but have to deal with the Noobanov and RPG's?

Thats what I said before, and thats why I wanted change so I could prove my point. People just thought I was crazy or something, lol.

Go ahead and give it a week, or a month. The same results will be there. The server will build up when we go there and build it up, but it will never be like the current TDM and BAS servers because of the weapons mod 1.0.

lol... we made this change several days ago. Where have you been? Guess that proves the point.... tongue.gif


I think that the Barb server is essentially dead... not sure what can be done. I'd play, but nearly every time I check-in the server is empty. It's not like everyone who used to play Barb now plays MWBA either tho, so I don't know where everyone has gone...

I like MWBA but I still get pissed off with all the noobs with a complete lack of BA knowledge. Perhaps we could require people to pass some sort of Base Assault for Dummies training before entering the server?!?!?! Argh! flamethrowingsmiley.gif

In case you haven't noticed. Steel is not making the changes cause she have sparetime trouble. It's because the server is dead, and she's trying to make everybody happy.

I actually agree with Nothing. In the choice of an empty server(maybe 3 or 4 players) with skilled gamers, or a server packed with noobs. Well I admit that I choose the server with the noobs (despite the lack of gameplay understanding)..... crying.gif crying.gif

When I first made Modern Weapons Custom Maps, it was empty or poorly populated for weeks, with little old me camping it every night. But once it took off, zingo, I had players anytime of the day.

If you want players to come into an empty server, you have to sit your behind in the server and wait for players. If you see it empty, and don't go in, look in a mirror, 'cause that's who is keeping it empty.

Now, there have been 6-8 non-MOB players in Modern Weapons Barb, nearly every evening. I've even gone over to Modern Weapons BAS and let everyone know there were players there in case anyone wanted to go join them and get the numbers up. Duh?! Let me guess, nobody wants to go in there if there's only 6-8 players, boo-hoo. Give me a break.

As to the comment that now there's no place to play stock Barb, wrong. The practice server is available and empty most nights, so any clan member can turn it on and a bunch go in there and play.

Or, if you'd like, I'll put Modern Weapons Barb back to stock. You will STILL have to go into it empty to get players to come.

Hey Steel,

I was so hooked with old Barb, I rarely went into any of our other servers and did not notice that was happening with the MWCM server. I did notice that when the MWBA server went active, it was hopping very fast. Many people love Barb with those weapons. Its just the right chemistry. But this chemistry is not perfect for all people. Especially the hard core players that love playing with team strategy. I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too is the proper way to describe it.

Basically, we have a choice. Old standard (dead)barb for the occasional game play, or the new one with your mod. The problem is when you tweak your mod, you will lose the traffic. Thats what I believe anyways. Your mod is what brought the traffic up so high to begin with. Weather you add super sprint, take away trips or whatever other things to satisfy the "old school Barb players" if you weaken the Druganov and take away the RPG's, I believe the traffic will not constantly be high in the server. Honestly, I look allot throughout the day at my ASE and see allot of people playing in the servers with your MOD in it through the entire day. There is a reason for it. Its the Druganov and the RPG's with the supersprint. without these, I believe the traffic will be low no matter what maps you run.

I really appreciate all you have done and dont think we all should keep bothering you with all these changes. You should just tinker with the mod and maps how you see fit. at least with 1 or 2 servers. If the popular vote is to keep one server with 24/7 barb, even though its dead, then let them have it. Let them occasionally play in it. I have not had allot of time to play lately, but when I get some time later this week, It will probably be in a server that has people in it. Thats what most do.

Steel I loved the MOW BAS server with all the custom maps that was great and always packed, Is there any way we could fit it in to keep it up full time?

Look, I'm not sure anything is proven here. The "new" MW mod was put on a server that was already dead, a lot of people probably aren't even aware of what has happened with it. The MW server OTOH got refreshed with new maps. This isn't exactly comparing apples to apples here. Also, if there is a complaint I've heard a lot about the Barb server now it isn't the lack of a full auto Drag or the RPG missing, it's the slow running. People do miss the fast running which gets them into the action faster, especially since they're used to it.

An apples to apples comparison based on complaints some had with the MW mod would be to leave the mod as it is with only the Draganov and RPG seriously toned down. Run it for a week and compare the popularity to the previous week ON THE SAME SERVER. But what we're doing here is completely differrent and merely an attempt to see if it is possible to ressurect a dead server.

I'm sorry to see the experiment end after only 5-6 days. AFAIK, you might as well turn that server off now and stop paying for it. Experiments to revive are met with derision, yet no one goes in it otherwise. MOB should save it's money and stop paying for dead servers, especially when no one is willing to try something different.

What makes me laugh ,is you guys want Modern weapons ,but dont want to play COD 4 because it is modern weapons.
