I don't really understand the skill system in the stats... I have like 36 skill with a 1.5 ratio when guys with a negative ratio have skill points in the hundreds. It just doesn't really make sense to me.

skill level is determined from what weapons you use and are killed by
Druid
Skill points are based on the kills / deaths received and weapon / location the kill was done

Each location and weapon are given a weighting

Skill = kill Skill - Death Skill - Suicide Skill

Kill Skill = Sum (Kills with a weapon * weapon weight) +
Sum (Kills to a location * location weight)

Death Skill = Sum (Kills with a weapon * weapon weight) +
Sum (Kills to a location * location weight)

Suicide Skill = 2.5 * Number suicides

so .....
If you had killed 3 people with an mp44, 1 head shot and 2 upper arm
and had died 3 times with a m1garand all head shots
and had killed yourself twice

following are the weapon rates
mp44=1
m1garand=2

location weights
head=5
upper arm=1

your kill skill would be
(3 * 1) + <--- 3 kills with an mp44
(1 * 5) + (2 * 1) <--- 1 head shot + 2 arm shots
= 10
your death skill would be
(3 * 2) + <--- 3 deaths by an m1garand
(3 * 5) <---- 3 deaths by headshot
=21

Suicide Skill would be
2.5 * 2
= 5

total skill would be
10 - 21 - 5
=-16

While I was looking up this info I found a post on the Serverstats site discussing a few mistakes in the skill modifier setup. I'll look at making a few changes over the next few days.

It is all quite complicated I guess, but I just look at it as how many head shots and pistol kills I can get. tongue.gif

Don't forget those Marine bashes - I witness eight in a row by Tyrant. Most impressive.

Oh yea i almost forgot about those, truly a great moment in cod2 history, only wish I would have been recording it.

Well thanks for explaining it, but... it still doesnt really make sense to me. I think skill shouldn't be determined by what weapons you use, even though others may be harder to use. I use a machine gun because it is the best all-around gun, and I kill more than I die. I think ratio should play a more significant role in skill rather than how you kill someone. When I get on your server, I don't want to have to use my pistol and bash people a lot to get my skill level up.
DirtyHarry
just don't die then your skill level can't go down!!!
banno22
ok then i get killed by rifles every time i play like the machine guns and rifles etc but the skills thing is complicated to me but it is ok

Who says that my tt33 isnt all-round? Tokarev 33, perfect for killing. Plain and simple biggrin.gif
Further I think that machineguns dont take much skill. Its just aim and pull the trigger till hes dead.
Just remember it is personal skill level, and shooting a person with a handgun in the head takes more skill than blowing someones legs of with a ppsh. Further it takes alot of skill to bash at certain moments. You have to be quick and couragious, Stealthy if posible. Same with a riffle. If someone is closing in at you than you have only 2 shots to take him out. Its quick solid aiming. I think there is more skill in that than jumping into a bunker and spray the walls of your bunker with bullet-paint.

ow I was talking about CoD uo tongue.gif
