we were on a UO server(not Mod server) and just wondered if you ever saw this where the player comes into game either allied or axs and his only choice of weapon is a sniper gun?? I had no problem but my friend did. here is the site and info

Dogs Of War AWE 2.12. 70.86.162.75:28960

i have played there and had no problem but wondered if it was in the players settings??
we been playing your bas barbarosa alot and the smolensk map i have seen is really good.

AWE has a lot of settings... it's a very extensive server-side mod. Off the cuff, I know it allows:

- different crosshair (blinks red when you hit someone?)
- red tint on your screen when you get hit (or are hurt badly?)
- tripwires (by using 2 grenades)
- and a bunch more I can't remember... tripwires are the best feature

It wouldn't surprise me if it also allowed weapon balance where only X players are allowed SMGs or Rifles, etc.

ok--i will look into it--Thanks

Weapons limiting is part of AWE

Tripwires can be soo sucky when friedlyfire is on...furthermore in a map like: cassino or barbarossa planting a tripwire at a bunker isnt great fun and I guess makes it damn hard to win in 35mins... in cassino..king of the hotel is the one with the most tripwires..

You don't have to run AWE to limit the weapons available. That's something the server admin can do with the config.

I've heard a number of people complain on the MOB Stock BAS that they've respawned and have no weapons. Seems to be a rare occurrence, but it happens and they sure complain!

Tripwires can be fun and they certainly add a new element to the game, fortunately, they are easy to jump over if you know they are there. Not so easy when you are engaged in a firefight with a camp ... umm ... defender armed with a saw.

That's basically the whole point of tripwires, traps, dead-man satchels and mines. It's a great tactical addition to the game.

- force the enemy to take another route (funnel the enemy into a killzone)
- kill / wound / damage the enemy
- force them to move slowly, looking for tripwires
- force them to spend time defusing

Not to mention the fear factor that forces them to reconsider a rambo-style rush into a bunker / room.

Well I look at it in a realistic way, if you tripwire a bunker... that means you wouldnt be able to enter it yourself unless you are a smart ass and step over it biggrin.gif ..btw. How do you stick 2 nades in the floor of a concrete bunker? duc tape?

you can defuse a tripwire and move it also.
