Damn right. ! Free CHONG!
Over here (Canada) they were attempting to not legalize it, but cut jail terms. For example if your caught with a joint you would receive a fine simular to that of a traffic ticket, and would not have to go to jail. The Gov't was trying to cut down on jail terms and cost for small possession, because the majority of cases were basically not worth the time to process; court cases, jail terms, paperwork all costly. Your caught with a bag, for distribution etc, its jail as always. Also the Gov't here regulates distribution of marajuana for certain individuals as a pain killer. Those individuals are all registered and it is legal for them to receive (free I am pretty sure - as it falls under the health act) (regulated by Gov't) marajuana in controlled amounts for there own use. Several years ago the US actually studied the Canadian Health system to improve there own.
kirby,
i seen on the news were there was a bill being proposed that would becriminalize pot you could purchase it at a pharmacy. it was a few weeks ago. you know anything about that?? shit i'de move to canada if they do that you know get dual citizenship. lol
I'm waiting for the day when America wakes up and realizes the war on drugs has done more harm then good. Unfortunately I doubt it will happen any time soon as most Americans don't have a clue, all they know about the war on drugs comes from sound bytes and a huge misinformation campaign.
Myth Illicit drug use is a leading cause of death
Fact Deaths from all Illicit drug use is minuscule compared to the real leading causes of death in the USA
Causes of death in 2000 as report by the American Medical Assoc.
Tobacco 435,000
Poor Diet 400,000
Alcohol 85,000
Motor Vehicle 43,000
Firearms 29,000
Sexual behavior 20,000
And all the way at the bottom
Illicit Drug use 17,000
Pretty amazing their are more deaths from sex than drugs.
I wonder how long it will be before the government outlaws fastfood because there are 400,000 deaths from poor diet.
You can find the report here on page 3

Just out of curiosity Druid, do you think that number is so low because of all of the time & $ we spend a year trying to ward off drug trafficers & smugglers?

THe war on drugs is and will be never ending considering the same people fighting drugs is helping supply and distribute it.

Absolutely not.
The money spent on the drug war now totals over 20 Billion per year.
This doesn't include the 2 billion cost of imprisoning of over half a million non-violent drug offenders
National Drug Control Budget page 2Drug arrest have increased by almost 300% in the last 20 years.
Bureau of Justice StatisticsSo after the spending on the drug war has quadrupled over the last 20 years and arrest have tripled during the same period, drug use it's self has remained fairly stable. Yet you'll hear people in favor of the drug war saying how the war on drugs is being won.
I can't find a copy of the article right now, but last year a government funded study showed how kids ages 14-18 found it easier to by illegal drugs than it was to buy alcohol or even cigarettes.
Beleive me de-criminalizing pot wont happen haha. The reason a pharmacy would carry it is like I mentioned before as a pain killer only. It would be very regulated so that the user would get a certain dose, and only by the Government. Its actually two different issues ongoing, the pain reliever, from what I seen would be extreme cases only. Anyone caught with a certain amount would still be arrested. The reason small amounts (say single joint) would get off with a fine, unless it became a repeated offence then I imagine jail terms or heavy fine.
As a 17 year old Druid I can confirm that article through personal experience. Go to certain parties and there is almost weed but alcohol is tougher because the dealers are actual stores. Cigarettes are a nasty habit and I have no idea why people still smoke them. As for playing a violent game and being a gun control activist (which I'm not), I see no relationship between the two. Practically all of my close friends and I regularly play games like House of the Dead, GTA, Hitman, and Resident Evil (some scary shit lol) but they have never inspired in me a want to buy an illegal gun and shoot up my high school. Silver I believe you misunderstood several of my comments: 1.) I am not denying the govt sheists the american people out of their money (I completely agree), I was referring to the fact they (the military) have automatic weapons and we don't. And yes I do have to pay taxes on investments I have made (I help my parents with the paperwork for my investments). 2.) I was actually confirming the fact that you can easily purchase weapons off the street (not sure how you interpreted my statement). These guns can create pretty scary situations. My girlfriend lives in a very safe area with very little crime and last month her neighbor's house was shot at in a drive by. Turns out the owner was a crack dealer- 37 confirmed bullet holes in the house. Very scary...
ok cool, being 24 and being in the transportation industry i wish they would legalize weed. what sucks is no matter how legal it becomes regs on my job path will allways be there which is good cuz it protects people. the dot in ny can pull me over anytime and make me take a drug test. what sucks is pot takes thirty days to leave your system which will get you cought if you partake. booze is gone in hours. pots not as easy to get as booze. personally we sould make it harder to get liquor and less restrictive for people to get weed. sending a 17 yo to jail with bubba for a joint is shitty.
p.s. speaking of jail canadas jails rule you get mc d's!!!
oh kirby this is what i was talking about

Easily amused guy Whiger, yes females have a aperture you know. I would imagine all ages come in here. The internet is wide open so anyone can view. I believe some are influenced by videos. I recall back in the early 80's a movie made about a kidnapping. The woman was buried underground alive. When caught the culprit said he got the idea strait from the film. I also recall in some TV stations banned the showing of the Three Stooges comedy early in the morning because there were several incidents of kids hitting one another with hammers etc, seeing it done in the comedy. Yes videos can influence behaviour in some instances.
