with the interesting three page political thread detailing why each canidate is not worthy of office, i was wondering if anyone would care to post positive, factual reasons that a canidate should be elected.

i am merely interested in specifics why the said canidate should receive my vote and not what his plans are in the future to help me should i vote for him. i dont wish to read negative opinions of the opposer on this thread. i wish only to be persuaded by historically correct, accountable actions of each canidate.

i realize this may be a difficult task considering the amount of negative bash that has risen, but the choice i make, i want to make because of what someone has already accomplished. i believe that i could make a good character judgement from where a man has stood and fought rather than where he tends (promises) to take me.

again, please only post what your canidate has done and why it should effect my vote. in other words, why does one man deserve MY vote?

thanks,

Now this should be an interesting topic.
I'm sure a few points will not be raised without also showing the negative on the other side.

My vote will be for Bush and here is why.

1) Thanks to George Bush, we've backed away from the economy crushing Kyoto Protocol, the ABM Treaty which would have prevented us from building a missile defense, and the International Criminal Court which could have put our military & government officials under threat of frivolous prosecution.

2) George Bush is a strong supporter of a Federal Marriage Amendment which is the only way to stop liberal judges from imposing gay marriage on the states against the wishes of the voters and State Legislatures.

3) There has been alot of talk concerning Bush's tax break fro the wealthy. The fact is, He worked hard to end the marriage penalty, increased the size of the child tax credit, gave Americans their hard earned tax dollars back in the form of rebates, and saw to it that 92 million Americans got to keep an average of $1,083 more of their own money.

4) We've had 10 straight months of job growth and over a million jobs have been created this year so far thanks to George Bush's tax cut

5)Over the last nine months, the economy has been booming. In the 80s, the average GDP was +2.9%. In the 90s, the average GDP growth was 3.1%. Over the last three quarters, the average GDP growth of the economy has been a sizzling 5.4%.

6) In Afghanistan, we were told going in that the war would be long, difficult. A lesser man than George Bush might have gotten weak kneed at the prospect of sending our troops into a "mountainous Vietnam" and found some sort of excuse not to go. But, not only did we take the fight to our enemies in Afghanistan, we bombed Al-Qaeda's camps, decimated the Tali, drove them out of power in less than two months, and sent our enemies running to Pakistan and remote caves on the Afghan border, where they live even today as hunted men.

7) Although I question some parts of the Patriot Act, it has gone far to solving the problem shared information between law enforcement , FBI and intelligence officers and allowed them to talk to each other as they work to prevent future attacks.

8) We smashed Al-Qaeda's training camps in Afghanistan, killed or captured more than 2/3rd's of Al-Qaeda's leadership, have blocked Al-Qaeda from attacking inside the US for more than 2 1/2 years, and according to the 9/11 commission, Al-Qaeda's funding has started to dry up.
I have to ask anyone who thinks Bush did a bad job. The day after 9-11 did you think other attacks would be coming, probably in the next few years? I think yes and I firmly believe Bush's actions have stopped that from happening.
Something which wasn't widely reported but backed up by the 9-11 commission report. Part of the reason for the 9-11 attack was so Al-Qaeda could gain more recognition among arabs in the hopes of increasing their support and financing for larger attacks.

9) Made the right decision to invade Iraq considering the information he was given.
12 years and 17 U.N. resolutions had made no progress, it was time for action.

10) The vast majority of people in the service support him as commander and chief. I do not want someone in that position who is considered by most to be unworthy of the job.

11) Unlike the other candidate, Bush is a leader in the sense that he advocates certain policies and sticks to his word. Even if I disagree with his policies, I think that I understand what those policies are.

I'll list a few more later.

lets try and stay on topic.

as of now, i would probably vote bush.
i am not sold on either, though.
bush seems not to be the brightest star in the sky.
kerry seems like a peta backer.

which would be the right choice for commander in chief?
neither of these men.

i dont like the idea of settling for the lesser of 2 evils when choosing the president of the US. yes, bush surrounds himself with capable people though they have made some seemingly errors in intelligence, but i would personally like a president who not only surrounds himself with the right folks, but also has the ability to be "the man" when necessary.

my idea of a president is a guy who surrounds himself with intelligence, listens to those people but has the mindset and intelligence to take command of a situation no matter what the stakes or the consequence. a guy who demands attention from other world leaders. a man who is respected not for his might, but because he is an unbelievable person both on the podium and in the office.

i dont think kerry or GW fits my idea of a president.
i know that either would probably be adequate, but shit, why am i in a position to choose between these 2 below par canidates?

Here's the thing, last week it was announced that Bush has run the country into the biggest deficit in the history of the world, this week it is announced that consumer spending is at it's lowest in 3 years. These are not good trends.

99 percent of the people voting for Bush have no idea what his policies are, what he plans to do with the country, or what he has done in 4 years. They vote for him because he is a Republican and so are they. So let's divide this along the traditional ®/(D) lines.

If you are an uneducated redneck who loves guns and slaughtering animals, you think the Bill of Rights should be absolved and abortion is a crime, vote Bush.

If you are an intellectual elitest who loves poor people, illegal immigrants, trees, animals and killing babies, you think the Bill of Rights was passed down directly from God, vote Kerry.

Does anybody really fit into either category? Probably not, but people absolutely love to be part of a group so they don't have a need to think for themselves. It drives me nuts. I was in the middle of a concert with 70,000 people chanting, "Fuck Bush". I doubt half of them could pick the moron out of a lineup. Do your research, make an informed decision.

cy. i am attempting to find out who is who on this very thread. it is part of my homework to understand peoples devotion to their party and why they support the canidate that they support. i dont understand wy we have the men in place to be the chief who arent fit to be that person...IMO.

btw, did no one like the will ferrell minimercial i posted?

You have an almost impossible task in front of you Future. Usually the only people that speak up are on the far right or the far left, both doing a disservice to themselves by alienating the pragmatists. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.

especially on some other sites that seem to constantly battle each other. not about why their canidate is right for the job, but why the other is so not. it seems like such a vicious cycle where no one comes out the better.

i am starting to think that this tactic is being used because neither of the 2 really have a solid foundation of themself and so bashing seems to take peoples mind off of that fact.

i dont know though.

You are correct.

I'm sure most people come away from my post thinking I'm a Republican or a big Bush supporter, neither is true. From what I know about Kerry, I know he shouldn't be a senator much less a president.
I think most people who will vote for Kerry are not really Kerry supporters but more like Bush haters. The problem is the same people for the most part don't have a clue who Kerry is. If they did they probably wouldn't vote for him.
From reading and talking to people, I firmly believe half of the people who claim to be either Republican or Democrat, have no idea what their party represents. If they did, they probably wouldn't claim to be either.

As of right now i will vote for Bush

If there is one thing that really burns me up about Bush, it's his solutions for bettering the public education system. Live, your nieces and nephews may be going to a better school now but what about the children left behind at the old school. There certainly aren't enough private schools to house all of them. This is exactly the point I was trying to make in another post- that Bush's education plan only skirts the real issues at hand. The public education system needs revamping, reorganizing, and more incentives for people to be teachers. Instead of seriouly addressing these problems, Bush is just putting money in the hands of individual parents and allowing them to make their own decisions. I hate that people even try to claim that he has improved education when all he has done, in the very, very limited power that he does have, is degraded the public education system even more. And don't even get me started on no chiild left behind because I will rip that shit to shreds. It's a travesty that only penalizes schools and teachers for variables that are often uncontrollable by means of standardized testing, which about the worst way to tell how proficient a student is at something. If anyone would like to rebut this, go ahead, but as you can tell I am thouroughly disgusted.

blackjack,
there is another thread already designated for the bashing of canidates.

as i stated before, this one is more for people to state why their choosen canidate deserves the presidency and more specifically, what thier canidate has already accomplished that gives the impression that he does, indeed, deserve the role.

i cant find much positive reasoning to elect either of the 2 major canidates to office.
it is why i started this thread. to try and understand why either of these men are the choosen ones for their party.

are we that short on real leaders?
futureman
here is a link to a site that gives plenty of reasons that junior bush should become a 2 term president. he is wise, even for his years.

http://www.dubyaspeak.com/best.shtml

this is an election year that could be used as the best example of why we need more than 2 political parties running the country. what it boils down to is that there is really NO positive reasoning anyone can give on this thread to why either of these 2 men should be the united states commander in chief. these guys stink.

the usa is in desperate need of change. the only change will come from people like us who demand more. we need a true leader. a leader that the world will admire and respect. we need Futureman.

Kerry is a Joke ...period. All this guy wants to talk about is his service in Vietnam which is has come to question as of late. The reason he wants to talk about 4 1/2 months of his life as a soldier is becuase the last 20 years as a senator he has been a total flip flop on every issue. He has voted to cut the military, CIA, Defense systems, and on and on. This guy talks about all the times he was in Vietnam and how he was has recieved his purple hearts. Hell the way he is going he is going to be recieving a Congressional Medal of Honor anyday now. This guy says he threw these medals over a bridge in protest. Then low and behold he still has them. haha see what I am talking about. He does one thing for a cause and then tells others he didnt so he can have it both ways. THATS BS! The only consistency in Kerry that I see is the blantant flip flop he does every time he turns around. The guy goes with the flow. What feels good at the moment. He doesnt stand up and take a hit for trying to be right. Thats why this guy came back from Vietnam and became a Anti War activist. This piece of shit turned his back on his so called Band of Brothers left over in the asshole of the world why he was over here playing Anti war games. He tells everybody he has commited attrocities and so on and so on. Now he wants you to believe he is a War time super Hero. Kerry was an anti-war leader when he thought that would get him elected in Massachusetts. He was a left-wing senator when he thought that would secure reelection time and time again. He was a pro-war Democrat when he thought that would help him secure the Democrat nomination. He was anti-war again when he thought that was needed to defeat Howard Dean. Now he's being asked to square his multiple politically expedient positions, and he can't. Hence, the flip-flopping. There is no clue to John Kerry. He was for adding 40,000 troops in Iraq in May. He's for downsizing our forces today. He was for redeployment of troops out of Europe and South Korea three weeks ago. He is against that today. All I can say is "whatever dickhead"

so, we decide for ourselves who sucks the worst?
thats how our United States of America will choose our next leader?

by deciding who sucks the worst. we are, indeed, an advanced society.
the reason we are left with these 2 morons is because the american people have had the wool pulled over its eyes for so long in believing that the 2 party system is what works. we buy into the idea that we get to choose. we arent choosing shit. look at these two goofs. ones a flip flopper, the other, a dumby. what kind of a choice is that? it must be a joke to the parties to let "the people" decide between what man gets his name on the desk. because the partied sure dont take it seriously.

and besides that, we arent choosing anything. if you think that by being a middle class citizen and having 2 to choose from you are getting something out of the election, you're wrong. you are choosing one of two spoiled, obnoxious, politicking actors. the ends will be the basic same.

at least the 2 parties could make it interesting and give us a nobleman to pick.
this is almost worse than the NBA.

i say put in the fool who gives us the best chance at gaining some respect back from the rest of the planet. then, voice your opinion politically and find someone to represtn you in the next election.
